I can not install version 6.0 on top of the beta versions.
I am on Linux Mint and tried to install version 6.0 .deb version. The installer gives an error and says: "Error: A later version is already installed"

This worked for me on Ubuntu on top of beta 17 but anyway, just remove the old one first:
then install the new version again.
Code: Select all
sudo apt remove bitwig-studio-

File association for *.bwproject is broken on win11.. anyone else seeing this???
Solved... If anyone gets caught out by this you'll need to remove bigwig6 (uninstall) then enter registry and remove all bwproject keys and then restart. re-install bitwig and problem solved. I believe this happens when you do a dirty install. To avoid this uninstall the beta version before installing the official release.

Bitwig support wrote that I should uninstall the beta before installing 6.0. However I can not find any uninstall option. I really need my settings and my projects to be preserved?

Click on the BW installer and the options to remove, repair or install is right there...voidpipe wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 3:45 pm Bitwig support wrote that I should uninstall the beta before installing 6.0. Nope. V5 automatically removed.gurulogic wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 3:48 pm Any chance that v6 will install without automatically removing v5? Windows 11.
Hey Bitwig Devs, maybe not everyone is comfortable jumping right into a major new revision without getting a chance to get used to things / ensure all existing projects are 100% compatible.
Glad I used my secondary workstation to check this.

Those fuckwads delete my main 4.4.10 installation as well as my 5.0.11 installation when installing the 6.0 demo.
From installing every version in a separate folder to going fully retarded "we know better" mode?
Will I have to reinstall what I actually use each time I try a demo now?
Jeez, at least give the user some options...

And what´s the problem???bite_me wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 5:42 am Not in the mood for celebrating the final release. I was running out of subscription during the betaa few days ago.
Your update plan was active when the first beta arrived? This means you´ll get V6 included no matter if your update plan expired meanwhile...
So download and enjoy!
