Yes I ran into the limitation in the first 30 seconds.
"Bitwig Studio 8-Track is a restricted version of the DAW limited to 8 hybrid tracks (audio or MIDI), 2 effect tracks, 2 group tracks, and 8 scenes. It supports only 2 VST plugins per project, lacks multi-out VST support, and has a 32-bit export limit, making it best suited for sketching and small projects".
I could so some serious damage with only 8 tracks but only 2 VST plugins is just pointless for my workflow.
I mainly wanted to see if version 6 brought the ability to have custom plugin display names as is found in many other DAWS so it doesn't have to display the whole name like:
I still don't see a way to do it and the limitations just made me move on. I don't even have my license for Studio Producer 5 installed any longer. I think Bitwig might be a DAW best suited for loopers and modulation fanatics so not really my cup of tea.
This might be a case where a developer's generosity of giving a free license actually worked against them.....

Do you mind expanding or giving me a few more details about what this problem looks like? (let's say versus SO v7 which is my go-to daw)GreyLion wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 8:25 pm ...
I'm not that interested in it, sinced they've apparently effed-up take management. For a guitarist, this is a critical failure.

Is there a way to register the Animate plugin, offered currently for free on Plugin Alliance, through Plugin alliance?
I only see directions for creating yet another account, this time with something called Mastering The Mix, to activate it. Even though its offered on the Plugin Alliance website.

i'm not 100% sure, but i thik you can install the plugins you want from this installer...
https://mtm-cdn-endpoint.azureedge.net/ ... .zip?z=1.9
then open the plugin in your DAW and just enter the serial number,
click the little xylophone beater looking thing at the top, paste your serial.

ah is there no way to register this on Plugin alliance, so I can use the plugin alliance installation manager? Or even the NI Access manager? Both sent me an invoice.

No, in this case Plugin Alliance is just acting as a store and selling third-party plugins. They often do this (as far as I know, just one at a time as a special deal). It's not affiliated with PA other than how you make the purchase.VitaminD wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2026 12:52 am ah is there no way to register this on Plugin alliance, so I can use the plugin alliance installation manager? Mastering the Mix is the actual developer of the plugin, so you get a code to redeem on their site. You'll have to make an account there.

it's sold/given away under the "pop up shop" banner,
so probably won't be available under the NI companies
did you try the method i listed above?
it's not an authorisation manager, it's just a global installer, so you just check the Animate box or uncheck the everything else boxes, and install only it.

According to the interwebs, and UAD's site, in Luna you can only see one take at a time, unless you create a new track for each take. You can loop takes in one track, but they aren't displayed in lanes beneath the master track. Instead, there are buttons on the left side of the master track that let you select a single different take to display.escalona wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2026 7:38 pmDo you mind expanding or giving me a few more details about what this problem looks like? This means you can't have a global display of your lanes and then cut & paste or drag & drop snippets to create a unified optimal take.
The workaround, as far as I can tell, is to split them all out into different tracks, and have a blank master track to feed snippets into. This is manageable, I guess, if you're only doing a couple of takes, but when you get into a dozen or so for each track, it just sounds like a PITA.
In S7, this is all easy and intuitive. Seems pretty basic for any kind of actual instrument recording.
Like I said, for some people this won't matter, but I'm kinda a perfectionist, and also suck at guitar, so I need lots of takes that I can then assemble into something relatively coherent.
This should be an easy fix for UAD, but there's a fair amount of online bitching about it for awhile, so I guess not. Can't find anything from them saying that they're planning to fix it.

I'm always interested in trying new DAWs (although I assume Luna requires iLok which means I won't install it on my main studio system) but I do have a backup system that has iLok and UAD connect already installed.GreyLion wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 8:25 pm UAD's Luna Pro 2 is on sale for $129, then brought down to $79 with the coupon code MARCH50. Bought it last night.
However -- It includes 29 of their plugs.
I poked around all over the site and didn't see a clear list of the 29 plugins that are included. Do you know if there is such a list? I have a few UAD freebies so it would be nice to know what this deal would bring.
I'll probably install Luna Free on the "Studio B" system later today just to get a taste.
