I have a question ,
I tested the first version of Temecula MidiVerb 2 and the tail of the reverb had exactly the same weird reverb tail effect (truncated and some bitcrushing effect) than the web version you can try on GIT (the free open gl version).
I though that it was based on the free open gl version since the hardware doesnt seems to have the same artifact.

Interesting.
I guess you mean Thement's web demo here.
Another thing that Thement's version doesn't configure correctly in the plugin is to quantize at 13-bits. On Thement's the MV2 is basically using the parameters of a MV1: 24kHz 13-bit. He didn't care to add a conditional for the MV2. I don't think he cares a lot about the VST3.
13-bits don't give a lot of headroom, so if it's hit at low levels the quantization of the tails is heard.
With 16-bit it's less egregious. You can do the experiment on TurboAlexis: hear one reverb tail with the "13-bit A/D", then with "16-bit A/D" (the correct MV2 setting).
If you still have the first version and can measure if the delay algorithms have different times that would indeed verify that the initial release of this project was also using 24kHZ 13-bit and it wasn't only the site text. You don't even need that, the algorithms will sound completely different between versions.
That would mean two emulations getting the sample rate and bit depth wrong.
It would be interesting to know if the MV1/MFX had such tails or if the device had some mitigation. The impulse responses I have studied didn't have them, but those can be just denoised.

These emulators show us how good we have it with modern plugins. MVII was always shite.

I'd be 100% in on a Quadraverb GT (the guitar variant) if that's on the cards. That was a cool little box for the time. Lots of weird FX like resonators and ring modulators. I think it had similar reverb programs, but I remember them being editable. And you could configure a bunch of different signal paths/chains from what I recall.
I bet by today's standards, none of it sounded particularly great, sure, but I wouldn't have known that at the time.

Me has MVI & II and loving both to be honest for their very own and unique characters.

Yeah, the MIDIVerbs were used on a lot of records and don't sound particularly bad to me. They're a little bland and flat, and don't have the real depth and space you get from other reverbs, but they've got a cool vibe to them in their own way. Weren't they used heavily on Warp recordings, Aphex Twin, and early techno and IDM (thinking like Autechre)? They're sort of their own thing.

Yes, certainly. These emulators just allow us to see them for what they are, not baked in nostalgia.

That was a bug and was fixed.sovietpop wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 3:57 pm You can clearly hear on this video that (hardware) the tail of the reverb are not truncated and it doesnt sounds as low fi.

Truth is, if you check the same preset (29. Xlarge Warmth 15.0s) on Turbo Alexis and Temecula MDV-II, the reverb tail stays for much longer on Turbo Alexis. I’ve just tested it. Is that closer to a real MidiVerb II? I don't know, I don't have a hardware unit to compare.

There are two types of producers: those who think this reverb sounds "too colored," and those who refuse to mix a track without it. We meticulously recreated this cult-classic unit because sometimes, perfection is boring. You use it when you want your synth to float in space, your guitars to smear into a lush nostalgic wash, and your mix to have a sound that's unmistakably its own.

Did you set Turbo Alexis the way he recommended to match factory settings?Sahul wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 4:23 pm Truth is, if you check the same preset (29. Yes, but it doesn’t actually affect the length of the reverb tail. My impression, having compared both plugins with IRs from the actual unit, is that Turbo Alexis really nails it, whereas MDV-II shortens the tail, at least in this particular preset.Uncle E wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 6:11 pmDid you set Turbo Alexis the way he recommended to match factory settings?Sahul wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 4:23 pm Truth is, if you check the same preset (29.
