using red focusrite -mulab 10 downloaded a free vst and now the cursor disappears on pressing play and cannot record midi-
if i switch in audio setup from ASIO to NME audio output the cursor comes back -can
record midi but not audio
any ideas anyone what the hell is going on?

With "cursor" you mean the play position line, right?
Sounds like an issue with the ASIO driver you're using, it sounds like the audio engine fails to startup. Best to share the MuLab log file after the issue occurred again.
