Common question: Anybody knows if (put your favorite VST-instrument/-effect here) work in Tracktion?....

Have you heard it before? :)

Well, I thought that Tracktion is supposed to support any VST-instrument and -effect. I may be wrong.

Would those whose VST-instrument/effects don´t work in Tracktion (and suspect this is Tracktions fault) PLEASE tell that in this thread. Maybe this thread (or selected parts) can be turned into a FAQ-sticky in this forum.

What do you say? :help:

No you are right. It is supposed that all VST(i)s work in Tracktion (and other hosts). However due to the extreme diversity in coding quality in both hosts and plugins there can never be a 100% guarantee. Also sometimes there are ID conflicts between plugins.

There already is a sticky thread for this exact purpose:

Now version 2 is coming the info in the thread could be out of date. When in doubt, just try!

I'd suggest that Tracktion is 100% compliant with Steinbergs VST standards. Any plugins that don't work in it are coded loosely or do not follow VST standards.
It's a bit like Microsoft's proprietary HTML code....it may look pretty but it aint in the rulebook and browsers like Opera and Mozilla actually try to stick to a standard.

To be fair, IE6 went some way towards undoing the damage that IE4/5 had done. Netscape 4 wasn't exactly a standards purist either. ;)
