Looking at it now.. yeah it’ RC-20 and DS-10 rolled into a new plugin so no loyalty discounts (or any other kind) for the people that already own those two plugins.
That’s a shame.
That’s a shame.

I wish with this video, and the other video I have seen (from xln official youtube channel) did use the auto volume match facility in the plugin...
Just being louder is an injustice to the plugins capability, imho.

Does feel a bit recycled from other stuff of theirs.

This is like Ableton's Drum Buss on steroids, I guess.
Cool. Sounds good.
But yeah, already have lots of plugins that sounds as good or better than this.
I'm talking about individual plugins similar to the modules featured.
Already passed on Retro Color for the exact same reason.
I own AD2 & XO, and love them, but this is a easy pass.

No loyalty code for RC-20 and DS-10 owners.. About hundred bucks. I think that will be nope from me.
Swayed synth and the new CA synth have my full attention.
And if these ABBA-loving vikings try to be cute and discontinue RC-20 and DS-10 in favor of the new thing, I will never spend at XLN store again. For their own sake, I hope they don't pull that kind of shit on old customers. That'd be the end of the line for me.

I don't think they would discontinue old products due to redundancy/competition within their own catalog. They're not IK.

We'll see about that. I very much hope not. But there is an overlap. And DB-30 may not sell like hot cakes due to overlap and the price. So I hope they don't try anything stupid thinking they are being smart.

It's quite a cpu hit, well 2.2% is a lot if you're gonna use it on every single drum track. For reference the plugin I'm using to feed it drums is TAL-Drum which uses 0.07% in this instance. Then again I'm on an old machine. The sound however and possibilities of the plugin are awesome! I suggest you check out the demo

I think this is fantastic.
I think XLN are one company that haven't made a bad plugin and this is no exception.
There's a reason that RC-20 is still unmatched despite many contenders.
Everything here is useful, particularly if you work with drum breaks or want something on a drum bus. This can really transform a drum break/bus into something almost unrecognisable. The only real similarity between it and RC-20 is the module layout. Even the modules that are similar work in a very different way.
As for DS10, it is effectively a simple enough transient designer. Very good but very limited
Most modules for instance, have a slider that determines whether the transients or the sustain parts are affected by the effect. There is so much going on here that it's hard to know where to start. The boom shack in itself is a fantastic way of adding either low end or high end to a break that is lacking.
Everything is extremely well laid out as with all XLN plugins.
I don't see much overlap in use between DB30 and RC20. RC20 is very much a lofi plugin. DB30 is very much designed for altering drums or percussive sounds.

I agree that XLN hasn't made a bad plugin. I also agree that I don't see the overlap between DB-30 and RC-20 that everyone keeps pointing out. They just look similar due to the horizontal module rack design. That said, it is also true that this is a very unoriginal concept and there are lots of multi-FX modular plugins competing in the exact same space. I think what many of us really want from XLN is not an iterative plugin like DB-30, but the very long-awaited XO2 and would be happy to pay for it.

We've definitely got two camps here. Those that are willing to accept DB-30 for what it is (aside from everything else in the market) and those who think XLN should have focused on making their current plugins like XO better. I'm squarely in the latter group. I did try the demo for a while but, for me, Arturia Mix Drums in conjunction with some fx plugins sounds so much better for my mixes. If you're thinking of getting DB-30, definitely try Mix Drums first. You can get a second hand license for it for less than $35 on knobcloud right now.oobesan wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:19 pm That said, it is also true that this is a very unoriginal concept and there are lots of multi-FX modular plugins competing in the exact same space.
