I wasn’t feeling very impressed by the YT demos and have no sentimental feelings towards the original synth, so I assumed I was gonna skip this one. But being a big fan of TAL I decided to demo it and WOW — Instantly inspirational. This thing sounds good. BOUGHT

My attempt at a more classic look.

zvenx broseph is still right, though. he's never stopped being right about it. he's winning it like a honeybadger on a pack of red bulls.
the OG look is bland as heck. it just bloody is, you can't help it. a little more gray, a 'lil more brown, no matter. it's still a solid dead mice in the background with bright funky colors on top.
and here's some facts from paramedic rescue book: you can't resuscitate a dead body. you just can't. leave it be, it's a goner. that's it.

Demoed it and it brought back some great memories. Great job as always, Patrick. Purchased.

Click on the preset name to open the menu, select "Show Colour Dialog...", then hit LOAD and choose the colour scheme file you downloaded to apply it.jamcat wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:26 am That color scheme is nice. But how do you load it into TAL-J8X?

I couldn’t resist. I bought it after learning that the copy protection isn’t as bad as I had thought it was. I used to have the actual hardware of this synth, but I was frustrated with how much maintenance these old synths require. It finally sat around until I gave it away (along with an ESQ-1). I suspect I’ll enjoy the software version better.
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.

Patrick did it again =) Somehow he nails the sound everytime he puts something out.
I also love the extras, a few of which I demonstrate here:
Here is a small demo track with a techno-ish vibe with only TAL-JX8 as sound sources: https://soundcloud.com/solidtrax/we-met ... -while-ago

It's not exactly the same as with TAL, but if I remember right what Bulent said, you get an initial keyfile that works like this:audiojunkie wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 7:09 pm How is KV331 doing things? I have his stuff too (though I wish it was Linux native).
- on an offline machine, that activates the plugin, so you're good to go;
- on an online machine, that keyfile gets replaced behind the scenes by a new keyfile that uses your machine information, so he can track your activations.
(Sorry for the off-topic.)

Knowing the other TAL products any bugs will be quickly squished in the near weekly fixes/updateskraster wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:16 am This is awesome but I’m getting some weird behaviour with the unison mode with the stereo spread turned up. Like an intermittent jump in volume on some notes.
