How can I use multi-timbral samplers in Tracktion?

Assuming I have several tracks with MIDI data and I just want to load ONE instance of a sampler plugin to save CPU resources.

How can I do that? I figure I'd need Racks, but I don't know how.

simplest way would be to have your sampler one track then route the output of your midi tracks to the samplers track. (highlight a midi track, you'll see the output box on the extreme right of the properties windo, just change the output from default audio (say) to your samplers track).

Ok thank you first.

So I'll have all the MIDI data routed to one track. Will the sampler be able to distinguish where which data came from?

You can set the MIDI channel per clip. Just select the clip and use the slider in the properties window (bottom of the screen).

Yes it is, and the way all those options show up just when you need them, and then get the hell out of the way when you don't. Jules is da man.

Disclaimer: The preceeding message should not be perceived as implying that RCcola thinks Tracktion can not be improved. RCcola would love to see Tracktion add an option to allow users to set the strength (by percentage) of input quantization. The addition of this feature would still not make Tracktion perfect, but with the improvements that T2 will bring to the vocal comping process, it will be damn close.
