and deadline still a day away :wheee:

and another thing to test on the way :hyper:
Can’t wait to hear it!

Might miss this Wednesday showcase due to work, but will catch it later if it airs this week!

I’m in the office twice this week for no good reason, just that the uppers are excited about a (buggy) software rollout. I don’t need to be there, but that’s just what it is.
bit nervous tbh, working on someone ejees score, and someone who seems to have done this kind of thing before. given the depth of the score i received, and it's "story" brief, im guessing there's expectations, that are beyond my limited skills  but im happy with what ive done, especially considering it's all host work, no modular beyond the sample manipulation we've done through the iterations.
I wouldn’t worry about the expectations. They’ve had the pleasure of being processed by vurt!

You get to simply say, “you’re welcome!”

Seriously, what makes this exciting IS the different interpretation of their score. It can come out so many different ways with even with the most detailed instruction.
:o Have I missed some kind of re-mix thingy? (a much favored form of "collaboration") Notwithstanding, I agree with the above, and look forward to hearing your efforts, Vurt. :tu: :D
A continuation of the Make Noise shared thingy they did. This time, it’s creating a score that someone else will create. Vurt is doing Cinematic Laboratories score. I’m not sure who got his.
not quite, cinematic lab got my pictorial score
i got crittenden iv score.

but yes, continuing the 12 string iterations, each of us wrote/drew a score, for someone else to realise in a piece.
mine came with characteristics for 4 different characters, in a scene, about ocd
me trying to get in to the mindset of someone with ocd, as someone who thrives in chaos, was the hardest part :o

listening back, it sounds like me, but there is some restraint too, definite moments i wouldn't normally associate with me :hihi:
there's chaos, but it's organised.

yeah, i know my score will sound amazing
wouldn't be surprised if we don't also get a cool little movie with it 8)
mine was a lot simpler as a score, 1 image and a few words to represent an idea, so he has a lot of freedom to play :D

I‘ve just updated my Missus‘ M1 to Tahoe, and am downloading Logic 12 instruments, now. I don‘t know when I‘ll do this on my machine, but I just want to get a feel for Tahoe and Logic 12. The only thing, at this point, that I want to try is the stem splitter which is supposed to be improved from Logic 11.

Preparing to make some changes in the studio. We may be able to do our garage conversion this year but it depends on how business goes and how some projects pan out. I'm not in a huge hurry because it's gonna be really disruptive for a while.

In the meantime, I've been focusing on things I can do to help out the LA Synt Club. I host the monthly LASC open mic night, called 'Patch and Play' here in Burbank. That usually happens on the 4th Thursday of every month at Lincoln Beer Co. but it was preempted last week because of sportsball. So that will be happening tomorrow night.

In addition to the open-mic night, I've been leaning on my relationships with folks at companies like 1010music, ASM and Strymon, to bring more vendors in for demos. Aaron from 1010 did a great demo for us at the beginning of March and Jonas from Seaside modular will be doing a demo on Monday April 6. More info about LA Synth Club events can always be found here: https://www.instagram.com/lasynthclub/

In the future, I'd like to do more. I'm planning to start publishing a 'Zine focused on music production, synths and various LA music scenes. This is something I'm really excited about. I read a lot of zines as a teenager but the scenes they supported seemed out of reach as an awkward high schooler.

I also hope to get back to doing Patching @ 3am streams on a regular basis again. I underestimated how difficult it would be to get that started again after taking a break!

I acknowledge that this is all very ambitious. I'll be happy if I'm able to accomplish half of what I'm trying to do.

Ah.. that sounds like a whole lot of fun. Looking forward to a listen. 8)

Robert, a.k.a. 'Cinematic Laboratories' is the consummate class act with absolutely everything he does IMHO. Where were these "scores" posted/presented?

This weekend was proof I do more than just work and pay bills.
Looking at the euro rack, I decided I wanted to do something with Kobol Expander so I plugged it in and because the cable wasn't long enough, went to the Germania 241 VCA. That was a good decision. With Kobol's envelope out going into the VCA, it gave a nice phat sound. I used the LFO to alter the frequency of the second VCO which made it not the normal patch. I recorded it sequenced from the Pamellas Pro Workout euclidean with loops changing from 8-6. I synced that to the DAW through Expert Sleeper's ES-10 which initially didn't work- had to go into the interface matrix mixer and enable the DAT out for channels 1-2. Anyway I added a nice synced ping pong delay from a VST and because I had the trigger at a probability of 48 percent, made a quite unique track.
I also finished another song that needed the perfect sample.
Last, I did a time count of finished music for an idea of how close I was to being able to say can release something. My two Plume drone tracks are both over 10 minutes so I am further than I thought. :borg:

So I created a now punishing mixing experience with way more parts than I normally like, but I think I’m finally making progress. Still hoping to wrap up this week and then move on to the video. It’s been a bit nuts, squeezing in 30 minutes here, an hour there in the crazy early hours, but that’s just what it is sometimes.

My video idea, is still over my head, but hoping to switch gears to storyboard/shot list it out. I’ve got a projector and markers, mixed with some future poster board in my future.

Video to come later, but for now just posting on SC.

This started off on Syntakt, made for the Syntakt Science Labs, using the analog UT Impulse to ping the filter, and then CB, the analog cymbal for the main synth.

The samba drums are from a drum rehearsal, led by my stepfather. This was recorded to a stereo field recorder maybe 14 or more years ago.

That was great! It has a really nice sense of movement, I was dancing in my desk chair! Lovely little twists an warps in the sound, make it really interesting. Well done!

Thanks so much for supporting my music!
There will be 9 more releases in the Gradient series in the coming weeks. Do not feel like you need to buy all of them!
Once they have all been posted, I will also post a package which contains the .mp3 versions of the whole Gradient series, on my website, for free.
