MSoundfactory CPU problems

Apparently, NI Massive X had similar issues porting Intel w/ AVX to M1 but it looks like they got there, not saying it was easy:

With all due respect, is this a matter of recoding AVX in this new M1 style?

If so, is there just more work to be done or do you feel that you're using every optimization possible and this is all you can squeeze from the M1?

That sounds like you were playing MSoundFactory at a concert.

It was really nice of Tagirijus to try and help you, but instead you got angry because he tried to figure out what you actually needed help with.

That sounds like you were playing MSoundFactory at a concert.

Logic is a DAW, Mainstage is a relevant of Logic but for live usage. A Mainstage concert is number of songs (patches).

Yes, thats true. But is was my mistake that I expected people to know MainStage since this is the market leader for people working in live environments (mainly keyboarder but even guitarists too). The second mistake was to assume that people know is is for Mac only.

Regarding AVX I just don’t know.

Regarding optimization: I think I did the big steps (256 samples with 48khz). But I would never say I know or did everything.

Have to admit that I run Mainstage and Logic in Rosetta. There are many vendors (IK Multimedia, Izotope, Steinberg, Soundtoys and others) wich still not provide native Silicon support. However, in Rosetta there plugins work well.

JBar: Wait a second - are you seriously saying that the whole time you were running it in Rosetta?? Well, that would be a good info to start with. FYI Rosetta is essentially an emulator of a really really old mac. It works, usually quite well, but claiming anything based on that is a really bad idea. For instance all the AVX optimizations Melda plugins are full with are basically lost and even the compiler could do anything about that.

magmagwa: There never "every optimization possible". But as for vectorization we just cannot do anything "manual", we need to rely on the compiler doing the magic and in some cases it just cannot do that. But until Apple releases SDK for direct CPU intrinsics, that's how it is.

@meldaproduction reviving this thread - just got a new M4 Pro system, 24GB RAM. Logic. Tried Meldway and I get 100% CPU with the sustain pedal pressed.

Noire on kontakt - 20%.

Pianoteq 9 - 30%.

What settings can I tweak?

MAC uses cellphone chips now, the code is made for computer chips.

Have you tried disabling multi-core option?

LOL. Yes I tried disabling multi core. I have a 14 core M4 Pro chip. Single core performance annihilates most desktop chips in any benchmark you care to look at.

I have no performance problems with any other plugins.

This is the only one.

Nobody? This computer has no issues streaming much larger libraries from other vendors and the SSD can read at 6-7GB/s.

Only Meldway has problems.

im getting a lot of MIDI notes hanging and the GUI reappears after i've closed it again and again, with knobs holding mouse down after release, anyone else? any solutions?
