Maybe I am missing something, but is there a way to bypass a direct modulation, like the enable/disable toggle in the modulation matrix?

It would be nice to have a switch icon (as in the modulation matrix) next to the modulation activated through an empty slot. Because, as far as I understand, there is no possibility at this stage to disable the modulation running through an empty slot.

Or maybe a right click mute option... less clutter that way.

Yes, a right click is probably good too, but with a button it would be very convenient.

Regardless, this is the most impressive sounding soft synth I have ever heard. Congrats!

Hear hear. The sweet spot in Z3 is huge. I get results worth saving every time I start from scratch. I love Z2 but Z3 seems more forgiving and generous. The sound is thicc and lush and the way the oscillators, envelopes and LFOs interact feels organic and full of character. It doesn't crap out or get skronky.

This has been worth the wait.

Agreed... the sound quality is exceptional... and full of effortless character. And yes, well worth the wait!

Hint; stop using the direct modulations. It has less possibilities. Unnecessary addition if you ask me, coming from an era when there was no good mod matrix

Yes, but I read from the manual that direct modulations have higher accuracy...

Well, if one can actually hear the difference....(maybe with audio rate mods?)

No. No bypass. However. You can temporary remove the modulator. When you re-enable the same one, it remembers the mod amount

I often prefer Direct Modulations over the Matrix because

a) the Matrix is indirect by definition... Direct Modulation is more immediate... no scavenger hunt, no click here first to get there

b) Direct Modulation runs at 1/4 sample rate, so 10+kHz. It's more than 10 times faster than the Matrix (yet uses less CPU/RAM)

For FMO, Filter Cutoff, Module Volume, fast LFO/Env/MSEG I'd always go Direct Modulation when available. For MIDI, slow envelopes, static signals I'd go Matrix.

Also, there are about 300 Direct Modulation slots in Zebra 3, because they cost nothing. Cost of ModMatrix slots grows increasingly with numbers, so we think 32 is a sweet spot.

Finally made it to the end of the presets, so many favourites! Many patches I got totally lost in. Zebra 3 has an alive, organic quality - so many patches surprise you with the direction they flow in and the sheer range of timbres and expression in one patch is extraordinary. Considering this has no samples and no arp/seq it's amazing how real it sounds and how much motion is possible in the patches.

I have started at the first preset and listened to EVERY SINGLE preset in Z3, since beta 1. Then, beta 2 came with more presets, so I did it again. And then this latest beta had a few 100 more, so I once again have gone from start to finish but Im not done yet! The sound character coming from Z3 is beyond that of.... nearly any other soft synth, possibly all of them, and Ive spent the last few months putting this to the test. Its stunningly clean and pristine, and makes me extremely happy every time I play it, and it feels like an instrument made by people who love synthesizers!

Ill try to settle down my fandom comments now so people dont accuse me of being a brand manager. =P

There isn't one. I can't recall the exact reasons, but there were many.

Some people have used bank names as a way to custom tag their own presets.

You can also save your own tags in the description field and create "saved searches" to find them quickly in the files view.
