How to automate with Mackie Control Universal?

How do you automate a track level without touching the mouse with the Mackie Control Universal?
Is there a “touch”(Final Cut) function mapped?

Not sure what's "baked in" to the MCU controller definition, but at a minimal level you can map 8 faders to volume on the first 8 tracks via the MIDI learn function. I did this for an MPK261 to get simple levels and the stop/start/rewind/record functionality.

I tried the up/down select a track, and from there be able to use a fader, but was stuck on how to "adjust volume on the currently selected track" in this manner.

The thing is the MCU integrates perfectly to control any number of tracks but I dont know how to automate levels on those tracks on the fly, not using the mouse to change the automation mode on the track every time.
In Final Cut Pro there is a "Touch" function for that purpose
