Hi all,

Last week we introduced the new design, which most of you have welcome (or in the meantime have come around to appreciate).

Thanks to your feedback we did find a few more remaining issues. Particularly, the UI slowing down preset browsing and many presets behaving unexpectedly due to running in "Continue" voice allocation - an accidental mishap that needed fixing. Also some missing or strangely wired UI controls.

So after the final beta we're releasing the final-final-almost-release-candidate beta. Snappy preset changes are back, some remaining stalls and crashes gone! Also, blurriness on Windows is further reduced as we now draw *everything* in integer pixel coordinate space.

This should now really be the very last version that will run with the Beta Tester license card.

We are tentatively setting a release date early morning of coming Monday. Therefor Sunday April 19th is pretty much the last chance for the Buy Now links to enable the discounted price of 179€ before it switches to 249€.

Enjoy,

- Urs & team

Licenses, Pricing

Everyone eligible for a free upgrade (owners of both Zebra 2 & The Dark Zebra licenses from before they became Zebra Legacy) should already have their license in their account. Head over to our My Licenses page to request your license card.

Zebra 2 license owners (from before it became Zebra Legacy) can upgrade to Zebra 3 for 30€ – just also head over to our My Licenses page, your license email contains a link.

During the beta phase, everyone else can purchase a Zebra 3 license at the introductory price of 179,-€ here (note, this is 70€ off from 249€, so this is better than anything we'd be able to offer owners of Zebra Legacy):

Pre-Order Zebra 3 for 179€

And for everyone who just wants to test Zebra 3 for a while without running into the demo restrictions, we got a beta license card (it'll expire at some point...):

Changes since last week's previous final beta
  • Fixed: crash when using the Multiply tool in the MSEG editor
  • Fixed: multiple crashes when removing modulation assignments
  • Fixed: Random freezes while switching presets in FL Studio
  • Fixed: freeze on Windows when using certain GUI sizes
  • Fixed: freeze when using the Rotate tool on a vertical line
  • Fixed: Filter 5 & 6 did not have a filter palette yet
  • Fixed: some voice allocation options were not applied correctly
  • Fixed: MIDI CCs interacting with the mod matrix in weird ways (VST3 only)
  • Fixed: mod matrix target sometimes not showing up in mod matrix
  • Fixed: visual glitches in the mod assigner bar
  • LFO waveforms can now be clicked to select them
  • Countless small GUI improvements
Special Notes (same as last week)
  • Minimum system requirement on Mac is OS X High Sierra.
  • Linux: please manually delete the old factory library and module presets before updating.
  • The Ctrl A-D macro feature is still in flux, the parameters won't get saved with presets.
  • The host automation list has changed, existing project automation will be broken.
  • Waveform import from .wav files is an experimental feature.

Neat, thank you!

Thank you!

Thanks!
Unrelated to this update, I haven't tried the Yellow filter in a long time, since it was so demanding, but it seems to be much less straining now, am I tripping or did you improve efficiency quite a bit from where it was initially? The sound of it is killer.

Thank You, I can't wait for the final release.

Hi,

What seems to be a bug with Osc 2, 3 and 4 — assign an MSEG to modulate an oscillator FX via direct modulation slot. The GUI switches to MSEG editor, which makes it basically impossible to dial in the value. This doesn't happen for me with osc 1, just 2 3 and 4. Running 21764.

And not only with mseg. With Mapper too.

Hooray! BUT...is updating going to do anything weird with the presets again? Working on an 'only Zebra presets' project and I'm far enough in now that I'm worried. Yes, I probably should've waited for the beta to be over. I started saving the factory presets I'm using to user presets, but I'm still nervous.

The MSEG crash is not fully fixed yet. The crash with Multiply tool is gone but once you add more points using the Add Points tool the crash still happens.

Edit: a more complete bug report and way to reproduce in the bug report thread.

You can always copy your presets to a different folder, then install the new beta and if you can't find your presets (which I doubt as with me everything went okay) you can always copy those back. Have fun!

You've fixed all the graphics bugs that I've found, thank you very much. Except for one thing. In FMO and on many effects (the effects matrix), the lines on the controls are still shifted slightly away from the center.

It would be nice if the drive parameter or the filters was greyed out or removed from the linear filters and any others where that parameter isn't applicable.

What's the reason for changing the labels from "LP" and "HP" to "Filter 1" and "Filter 2" in the Noise generator? The latter both occupy more space and is less obvious.

In the Delay node it's still "LP" and "HP", in the ModFX node it's called "Low cut" and in the Modal node it's "HPF". Are they different shapes?

Would again really recommend putting back the label for "Source" on the Oscillator.

I'd suppose the SVF filter is built upon the SEM filter. AFAIK the SEM filter does not do self oscillation, while the SVF in Zebra 3 can have a quite strong behavior when resonance pushed high.

Is this something intentionally added?

Yep, we missed Osc 2-4. Good catch. Will be fixed asap. Same for the tune and spectral distortion parameters.
