I got it. It's amazing.perpetual3 wrote: Sun Mar 19, 2023 2:06 pmNo brainer, really.killmaster wrote: Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:11 pm F'em is on a giant sale right now. I wasn't thinking of getting it, but have read such great things about it. What do you all think of it? There are just so many granular and FM synths out there, I really hesitate even for $30.

Had same problem, thanks for informing. Indeed, this seem to be case. And in addition, most recent version (1.1.6) does not work, but show only blank window. Luckily I had older version in my backups.Stiller wrote: Sun Jan 01, 2023 9:39 pmGetting back to this: Only the VST3 version for Linux is unusable, VST2 works. By default Bitwig prefers VST3, but one can simply delete the VST3 from the installation and keep only the VST2. And after that it's still a really nice synth, warts and all...Stiller wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:11 pm I have trouble starting F.'em in Bitwig 4.2.5 on Linux (Debian Bookworm), it starts only after I push the "Restart plugin" button a couple of times (sometimes 3, sometimes 20). How can I make it work?

Any update on MIDI learn? I've been looking for an FM8 replacement forever, but the MIDI learn functionality is quite complete so it's hard to get away from. I really like to quickly bind controllers for jamming purposes. Keeps me in the zone. Major peeve is having to interrupt my flow states tinkering with Cubase's still unwieldy and quite limited MIDI remote.

MIDI Controller Mapping
=======================
F-em now offers assigning MIDI Controllers to most continuous parameters. To use it, proceed as follows:
* Right-click on a rotary, slider or readout display control to open its context menu
* Select "Learn MIDI CC"
* Move the MIDI controller on your hardware
The parameter should immediately start following the MIDI controller movement.
If you want to abandon the learning process, right-click the control and select "Stop Learning". Note that this entry is only selectable when you are currently in MIDI Learn mode.
If you want to remove a MIDI Controller from a parameter, right-click the control and select "Forget MIDI CC". Note that this entry is only selectable if a MIDI Controller has been assigned to this parameter.
Additionally, you can limit the value range of the parameter to be controlled by the MIDI controller as follows:
* Set the parameter to the minimum value it should have when the MIDI controller is at its minimum
* Right-click on the control to open its context menu
* Select "Set MIDI CC Minimum Value"
* Now, set the parameter to the maximum value
* Right-click on the control to open its context menu
* Select "Set MIDI CC Maximum Value"
After you have set up your MIDI Controller Mapping, you need to save it to disk. To do so:
* Click on the little MIDI DIN connector symbol in the lower left of the plugin window in the Master section to open the MIDI Map panel.
* CLick on "Save" to open a Save File dialog. Enter a name for the mapping and confirm the dialog. The new file is shown in the left part of the panel in the file browser section.
To load a MIDI Controller Mapping, double-click on an entry in the file browser section.
The right part of the panel shows the currently mapped MIDI Controllers to parameters. You can delete individual entries by clicking on the X (delete) icon.

I was considering trying this, but the demo requires installing a corporate software manager, and buying it outright (giving access to a regular installer) is $180, and it apparently goes on sale for $30. Guess I'll just wait for it to go on sale and "demo" it by buying it. :/

I know what you mean. I’m not a fan of individual brand managers either, but I have to admit the Tracktion one is actually pretty well done. It’s slick, fast and makes updating the whole Dawesome collection really painless.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
