Throwing my sound design sample library at it, and other than having to INIT each time to clear the sample, this it excellent. A lot of my samples are already lofi’d up but I’m getting some really good new stuff out of the same samples that is also sufficiently different to their original sounds. Then putting Celestine after it opens up even more possibilities.
Will look to pick it up when I get paid for sure.

To answer my own question: no, it doesn’t. It has none of those features and even if I load multiple samples, it keeps playing the same one. There’s no way to skip, switch or randomly pick a sample from my user folder while staying in the main editor. So having to manually drag-and-drop single files every time feels very limiting, unless I’m overlooking something.enCiphered wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 11:37 pmDo you know if it has a ‘pick random sample from a user-defined pool’ feature, or any other randomizers similar to what Rando does?kraster wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 8:57 pm If you're looking for a dusty Lo-fi sampler with multiple modes and sis uper easy to use then this is for you.
It can also used as a non dusty sampler but it really nails that kind of cassette sampler aesthetic.
Extremely well thought out, deceptively versatile and very instant in gratification.
This is ideal for firing in single or multiple samples and getting something playable very quickly.

There are multiple modes. Round robin which switches samples out on each key range, stack which stacks samples in the same key range and scan that scans through all the samples you have currently loaded. There are two modes with Scan. Fixed and dynamic. Dynamic constantly moves through samples as you play them and fixed scans through your samples but locks onto one as soon as you play the key.enCiphered wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 2:47 amTo answer my own question: no, it doesn’t. When you select scan there is a central bar that you can modulate to select samples. This can be combined with the random modulator to have a random sample selected every time you hit a key using fixed scan mode.
You do need to drag multiple samples into Outgrowth though. You can't just point it at a folder.
Samples are mapped automatically according to the root key and the keyboard span range is determined by what it thinks the various samples represent. e.g if you have samples that have c1 and c3. C1 will be mapped with C! as root and a range from C1 to B3 and C3 will be mapped with C3 as a root and a range from C3 upwards. You can adjust the ranges, root note and tuning in the sample editor
There's also a shortcut in the sample optiosn to assign all samples to the full range of the keyboard select this option if you want to have the random sample per key press behaviour described above.

Yes, I’ve loaded a bunch of custom samples with Scanning as the playback mode but the editor always shows only one sample no matter which key I press. Could this be a demo limitation?
Oh wait, changing the key mapping actually fixed it. It seems to work now, but I still need to figure out how to lay out the samples properly. Why is there no auto-mapping option to choose from?

To be honest I'm confused by the scan modes. If I choose fixed mode like I lay out above it doesn't do the sample per key mode but it does if I choose dynamic.enCiphered wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 3:55 amOk, this is really helpful. I suppose dynamic when using the random modulator fixes it to a specific sample.
Either way if you're looking for the different sample per key choose dynamic scan mode with random mode

I just received a notification that version 1.0.1 has been released. Here’s a quote from the email:
“Major fixes include:
Clarifications around factory presets and sample downloading.
Save state is improved and now takes up a quarter of the space or less.
Fixed some issues with projects not reopening properly.
Fixed reverse setting not reloading properly for samples.
Fixed issues with fixed scanning, and modulating the scan position of samples.”

Great stuff. That's what I was referring to above. I did contact Aqeel Aadam about it.
I honestly love this thing. One of my favourite synths in a year full of outstanding releases.

Version 1.0.2 just followed the earlier update. From the email:
"My sincere apologies for the back and forth. This is a patched version of the update that went up earlier today. Soon after pushing the fix, I received a report about an issue with reloading existing projects (thanks Michele for flagging that so quickly!). If you haven't had any issues reopening projects with v1.0.1, this update may not be necessary, but it's recommended."

I had Weeping Wall, but nothing else, so I just completed the set. Great stuff.
