Clicking on ok in that error window is just making it pop up again so it would not be possible to save anything.
In my experience, if you spam the enter key to dismiss that dialog while also rapidly clicking on the X in the corner of the application window to close it, you'll eventually succeed in triggering a save dialog.
Thank you for the tip :)
That is what i did after i posted this and i had to click on the ok button a bunch of times and then it dissapeared :)

It is deffo a redesign. I ran three screens Rack - Mixer - Seq and now at best could only use two (mixer permanently docked) BUT might as well collapse to one screen as everything has been optimized for that due to changed behaviors.

The Track header in the Rack being under the synth is an odd one as while I get their logic (for clueless people), it is not how hierarchy works ie

King (SSL Track) < Baron (Thor) < Vassals (The Echo)

is logical, especially in a multi-rack system where you need to parse many sub-chains (like in a country with many sub-Kingdoms) so you scan the Flags (Headers), not the vassals as they look unwashed grey. The track under is therefore confusing. However, in their Rack Per Track thing, where the rack is not really a RACK, it is ok. And Single Rack even more so. This is how things work best now I think.

Exception being some smaller things like auditioning a reverb Return (I often suspect I am the only person to do such a thing). Still, overall, while some of the real-worldism has been ground off, it seems like it flows well.

As for 'real' samples. Reason does have a lot in there. Many in specialist locations, and like Orkestra are dead dry, which makes them seem ungh, to less-experienced people (most these days). They do work if you know how to work them. As for RS competing with NI and Crow Hill (or whoever these days) it seems dumb as no one will do as well as specialist makers. What is in Reason is enough for most people in most situations.

Once they want specialist stuff, they will inevitably go to a specialist (even if they don't need to) as this is people. So adding all that cost would be pointless - as already proven by every other DAW incl RS with Orkestra which people piss on before understanding it - cue the on-pissing posts... Altho that said a single device that make access to patches would be nicer than NN-XT. But again, RS did it with their Reason Drums & Bass REs that were easy to use but mostly ignored. I use Power Drums 2 when I need that.

QED Reason, like Reaper, has chosen its hill (without crows in its case).

Because that really would make very little sense, if any at all.
The track panel is a simplified view of the rack for a track (which is exactely what an instance of the RRP is) and it eases the view of what’s in a track (there’s no navigator panel in the RRP neither) and it eases adding devices. So it totally makes sense to have it also in the RRP.
I hate to break the news for you, but alas - there are no tracks in the RRP.

Once you get your head around this tiny detail you might get my point.

He's right ^

The RRP is one Rack only so no real sense in duplicating a mini-me rack beside it when simply working the Rack would be faster.

Tell the guys who are smarter than the average bear and use the RRP the most.
Ok, you’re right, I’m wrong. Enjoy R14 !

I agree :tu:
I also agree. So much easier to get stuff done with the track panel and rack per track.

I agree as well.
I’ve been quite vocal about how messy I felt the Reason workflow had become — the strange window behavior and awkward button interactions. Reason has always been fun for sketching ideas, but 3–4 tracks in and it started to feel like working at an overly cluttered desk. And the Reason sessions usually ended there.
This update really fixes all of that for me. It’s like night and day. The track panel, single-column rack, windows closing with ESC, and not just docking again etc. They nailed the UI workflow far better than I could have hoped for.
Still not overly happy about the browser being constrained to the current window, but overall, really great work, Reason Studios!

I need some time to get used to the new workflow, but interface wise, I love it. I would also like to see the ability to scale the rack and the rest individually. Anyone who knows where you can submit requests like that?
Mac Mini M4 Pro | 14 Cores (10P/4E) | 48GB RAM | Studio One | Reason | Bitwig Studio | Logic Pro | FL Studio | Cubase Pro | Waveform | Reaper | Renoise | ~1000 VSTs/AUs | ~350 REs

Why would you think that? :?

Massive workflow improvement.

I've been wanting this since the release of R12.

Coz no one ever talks about doing it and every session I see (and that is not all) has the Master Outs plugged in instead of the Control Room. Seeing it is all digital and "Ctrl Room" gives access to the listen switches, one wonders why this is not the default outing??

Probably one of the most positive and least controversial updates I've seen from Reason in a very long time.

From a device perspective one of the smallest updates but from a workflow perspective they made some nice calculated improvements. Putting more focus on the sequencer window is a big improvement. This upgrade makes Reason feels alot more modern and really gives Reason a more drag and drop and intuitive workflow. It's weird because in the early 2000s I think Reason was one of the most intuitive programs but that was because before then most users came from hardware setups where they had to wire stuff up. The v14 still keeps this old workflow but in a more modern way.

From the outside looking in update feels small but I think they are satisfying their base who will be the best promoters of the program.

A very good upgrade, and never forget, that reason has some of the best instruments in the industry: europe, algoritm and objekt, the latter can produce incredible sax sounds, no one would believe.
artie fichelle sounds natural

Yeah after a solid week of use I'd have to say this is the Reason update I've been wanting for quite a while. Everything just feels faster and makes more sense if you are a Reason DAW user. Well done to the Dev team.
