Every time I start Bitwig I need to maximize the window again

They're saying this since ages ago lol. At this point I think it's an unfixable issue with the software (I think I read somewhere it has to do with Java).BobDog wrote: Mon Apr 20, 2026 12:50 pm I got a reply: They are hoping to improve this in an upcoming version...

Multi-monitor? Ive had this identical issue on and off for 6+ months, since I added my second and 3rd screens. It never happened before I added more screens. About 25% of the time, almost at random, I open BWS (5, 6) and every window on all 3 screens is minimized. Also BWS never remembers where windows were on the #2 and #3 screens, reversing windows randomly. It would nice if this was more reliable, but workaround is just to click a couple buttons.

No, just my Macbook Pro M1.
No workaround for this, need to manually resize every time I start Bitwig.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I am experiencing a very similar issue and have reported it repeatedly a long time ago, yet nothing has changed.
Bitwig Studio still does not reliably remember the size and/or screen position of plugin editor windows when reopening a saved project. In practice, this becomes extremely frustrating, especially in larger sessions with dozens of plugins, where screen space is a limited and important resource.
Having to constantly resize and reposition plugin windows again and again disrupts and slows everything down unnecessarily. This really needs to be addressed.

Weird, ok. I thought perhaps it was the multimon thing that gets me.stippenstoh wrote: Tue Apr 21, 2026 9:27 amNo, just my Macbook Pro M1.

Are you using the "zoom" command (option+green button) or manually resizing the window to make it fill the monitor?
If using zoom, suggest you try manually resizing the window instead.
For whatever it probably isn't worth, it seems to remember for me either way.

I tried all possible ways, it will not remember the next time. Seems to be no workaround, just an annoying bug.

I noticed this when I upgraded from Monterey to Sequoia last month. BitWig 5.3.13 stopped remembering maximised state 50-80% of the time. Under Monterey Bitwig always remembered that last window state. I've tried all the workarounds described on the post comments but it doesn't fix it under Sequoia...
I think this is more of a Sequoia problem since I've noticed that several other applications are affected as well plus other Sequoia bugs like applications don't remember what monitor they were on and some applications sometimes no longer remember their last saved states when they never had this problem prior to Sequoia...

Thanks. It's still there in Tahoe though.
What other apps did you find have the same issue?

Bitwig got back to me, too. They "hope" to fix it within the next releases, whatever that means.

Same problem. Dual monitor setup, macOS Tahoe. Templates saved with both windows maximised (not full screen). Every time I open Bitwig they're nearly maximised but not quite, so I have to double-click on both windows headers to maximise them.

Try saving a new project with the desired window size as a template. Bitwig usually remembers the layout and size of all windows, as well as the browser and your search settings.

As previously discussed that does not solve it.
