The interface is something I see in the 3D rendering world :)
Yeah, totally agree. I’m making particle effects in PopcornFX and the node-based interface is pretty similar.

I tried it here and added Digital Synsations and it seems to be working:

"As for UI design, I'm constantly refining Hyperion UI to try to make it easier to use - and will definitely consider all feedback."
Please, take in account that the high contrast colors that you use do not allow for long time of work. Given that your synth is very interesting and complete for sound design, it's an important parameter. I tried at a friends studio, but after 20 mn I had to stop having my eyes "burning".
Also, it would be great to be able to chose the size of the modules, as the font is small and not adapted for higher resolution screens. I'm actually using a wide screen with 2560x1080 resolution and it's on the limit of being readable, unless you stick your nose to the screen.
But your synth is very good averall, Aslo I love the fact that each sub-patch and modules can be saved, that makes the work much easier and faster on the long term.

How do you load .sfz files? The marketing page says "Multi-sample (sound font) oscillator enabling import of sfz/sf2 files." When I load the "sound font" node, it only mentions SF2 and does not support loading .sfz files or drag-and-drop .sfz files.

Post

If there is still any mention of SFZ support in Hyperion that needs to be removed from the websites, it's SF2 support only currently - I will check (I don't have control over the Tracktion website - so may need to ask them again to fix that). The SF2 support also includes selecting sub-sounds from within a bank of multiple multi-samples.. there's some great EMU and Roland SF2 sound banks out there featuring collections of instruments.
As for issues with high resolution screens, you can use the UI zoom factor in the settings panel to make everything much bigger. In terms of colours/contrast - perhaps it can be toned down with monitor settings, but some custom colour choices and opacity controls will likely appear in Hyperion 2.x.

I'm not a regular on KVR, for quicker responses to Hyperion/Theia questions check out the discord invite link on the Wavesequencer.com site.

It will load multi-instrument Soundfonts like a GM SF but can only play the first instrument. I don't see a way to select different instruments inside a SF.

Single instrument SF import works fine although I have found a small few that don't work.
This was fixed in an update early last year - now you can select sub-sounds from the SF2 banks.
(Hyperion just uses the raw sample playback of the SF2 data with the appropriate key/velocity switching) - for envelopes you still need to set it up in the usual way with and ADSR node controlling the output/AMP node.)

I do have some questions though and I'm not sure if the developer interacts anywhere. For example I still can't figure out why there's no Note Frequency input on the Soundfont Node or how to add one.

I haven't followed the story of Hyperion that closely so I don't know if it's still being developed or if there is an active user community somewhere. Like I said it doesn't seem to get much attention here. I'll have a poke around the internet to see if there are any resources available.
Yes.. still under active development.. make sure you download the latest updates.. we are on version 64 now.. (65 releases).
There will eventually be a Hyperion 2.0.

Ok thanks that's great news. I haven't called up Hyperion for some time but will certainly do so now and check for updates. It's great synth!

To be honest I find Discord in general to be a bit of a sensory overload but I'll see about joining your page.

It sound like in years rather than months. :(

I see it’s on sale now at Plugin Boutique for $77. I wish I had bought it when it was around $25.

Discovered that beast at SynthFest France. The capabilities of the synth are so great, and those lush synthwave huge presets

Does Sweetwater know something Tracktion doesn't?

Q: What operating systems and plugin formats does Hyperion support?

Hyperion is highly versatile, supporting Mac (OS X 10.11 or later), PC (Windows 8 or later), and Linux operating systems. It integrates seamlessly into your digital audio workstation (DAW) as a 64-bit plugin, available in AAX, AU, VST, and Linux VST formats, ensuring broad compatibility with most modern production environments.

Sweetwater has copied and pasted to their pages incorrectly before. If you want confirmation of this, you should ask Tracktion support directly.

And yes, it would be nice if everything they curate met this as their standard.
