New T2 Stuff!

Hmmm.... about the whole rex/ sliced loops idea couldn't an app be made that slices the loop and puts it in the sampler? Then it could supply a midi file so that if you feed it to the sampler it plays the loop. Stretch the midi file it stretches the loop...

If T2 has a better time stretch algo or support a common looping format, it will pretty much have fulfilled every major wish from the userbase.
It will also be pretty much up there with the big boys of sequencing, except for stuff like surround. Luckily, I'm still in the realm of stereo.

I totally agree. And couldn't the surround be handled by a plug-in?Breakpete wrote:If T2 has a better time stretch algo or support a common looping format, it will pretty much have fulfilled every major wish from the userbase.

With a new timeshifting algo that's -spectacular-, I could live without the other loop formats. However, to me ACID and Rex-style looping (or even a proprietary Tracktion version that works right on the timeline) are a bit more 'true' and a bit more indispensible for looping drums. The sounds remain more authentic and the natural "adsr" of each component remains intact.
Also, I'm still doing fine with eXT for beatslicing, so if it's not functionality included in T, that'd be OK....
So I'll revise my statement to say that yeah, a better timestretch WOULD be more useful.

If I *had* to choose between rex and pitch shift, I'd go with Rex I think.
I just happen to use mashed breaks more than I need pitch shifting.
The feature list so far though has about half of my T gripes taken care of it seems, so if a few of my wants drop through the cracks I'm not going to complain.
They better make it into T3 though.

I agree. Everything doesn't have to be in T2 now. They have covered so much already.
Plus, there are plenty of low cost beatslicing/loop tools around now, such as the excellent MicroDicer and ONO/Solo.
