I like it!

Upgrade License purchased here. Keep in mind, I'm a big Arturia fan, I have all their VST's and also PolyBrute12. Demo'ed this Memory V for 5 minutes, and personally I like it better than another hardware poly that I just sold last week. Watch your levels in this one, and there's tons of juicy and useable tones in here!

No one tested it against the Xils emu?

This is the first enticing Arturia synth in a while. Perhaps there is hope for a Modular V rebuild.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Isn’t that a Poly Moog?

Did not, but I read Xils's is polymoog not memorymoog.

Sounds good enough, fat and grungy. Oscillator gain needs to be low to avoid saturation.

I've really grown tired of these pop-out advanced panels in Arturia synths, particularly the ones like this where they extend from the bottom instead of the top. I have to set the UI size to 90% which is too small, just to avoid having to scroll to see all of the panel. It feels so clunky.

Yes. There is no Xils Memory Moog. Only Cherry.

It's just the Cherry Audio version. For whatever reason, they didn't do a good job with that one, doesn't sound anything like a Mmeorymoog. The Polivoks emulation Atomica is fantastic though, changed my opinion on Cherry.

Do you want to learn 45 Synths? If you want that, then yes.
Not sure I have the will to be honest. 45? Do people really need that many synths?
I'm sure that there's someone out there who uses all of them.

But "learning 45 synths" makes it sound far more complex than it is. For example a lot of the included instruments are basic keyboards. It's not like there's a lot of programming skill needed to use Piano V. Then a lot of the synthesizers are analog recreations, so once you learned one you have a huge head start on most of the others.
Good to know, thanks.

How does the versioning work, is it a new version every year? Do they just keep adding a few synths with every new version?
Yes that's exactly how it works. Sometimes they will also make a new version of a previous synth as well (a recreation with not insignificant differences, not just an update).

Curious to try this. What’s the rub on the differences between this and Mini V? Isn’t this very similar to a polyphonic Minimoog?

That's what I've been waiting for. I'm not buying anything Arturia until they update the Modular V.

I downloaded the demo, and messed around with a real one once about 40 years ago lol

Can't really speak to how close it is to a real one,. The Arturia one sounds to me basically like a Minimoog Plugin. There are a few differences but for me not enough to matter in the end. It sounds good and seems to saturate much easier

I will eventually get this as part of an updated V Collection if it's just this and some augmented stuff I will wait to whole thing is $99 next year

I have the Legend HZ which is my go to Minimoog plugin and can be played with polyphony of course and that's enough polyphonic Moog for me

However if you are looking for saturated more aggressive sounds this one is probably better for you. I would think probably especially for things line moog bass it could be really nice

Were you familiar with the hardware though? You might like the Atomika because the sound appeals to you independent of what the hardware should like. Sometimes knowing the hardware really well ruins a software emulation (like with you an Memorymoog). I've heard pretty detailed comparisons between hardware and software of Atomika/Polivoks and while it has the flavor, there are also differences when it gets pushed. Cherry does not have the best attention to detail, especially when it comes to complex stuff like filter resonance or audio rate modulation. I do however really like the synths that don't go into any crazy territories sonically, like the mercury series and the SEM and eight voice. The have good basic tones. And I do plan to get the SH-MAX at some point. The tend to do the Rolands pretty well, except the DCO-106 which is not so good. And the MS-20, ARP2600, Quadra, and several others also fall short. And cherry synths, like Arturia and some other devs, have a character rather similar between them.
There is more similarity sonically between cherry synths or between Arturia synths then there is between the same models of each company IMO.

Don’t forget the Memorymoon, for me the best emulation
