That's a yes then

Post

I updated Analog Lab Pro to see if maybe some presets from Memory V would be added, but there aren't any yet. They have added ones from the others in their collections over the years, so maybe they will at some point.

I did the same thing. They had updated it to add the latest augmented Persia release, so probably in the next update.

Nothing is an exact emulation of anything, No VST can replace the real anything bro.
Yeah but now that I’ve played with this a bit I’m disappointed. It just is missing oomph it should have being a new emulation. I can go back to GForce plugins or Acustica synths (and boy I didn’t want to like those) and feel more of a hardware presence and warmth. I sure love the way Memory V looks - wow - which makes it more frustrating.

It's not so much missing low end as it is missing punch. And that might be as much about missing elements in the mids and highs, or weird envelopes. Arturia are more often dull than missing low end. Arturia is also sorely lacking when it comes to resonance response of many analog synths that should be able to scream, but are very dull compared to the competition like the 303 resonance, or the OB-XA, or the MS-20 (the last one seems due to dull oscillators). Like I said, I feel like the develop their plugins in comparison to vintage hardware that is going through some vintage, dark, highly compressed mixing board or something.
A little off-topic, but I found Korg's MultiPoly does kind of what Pigments does, with fantastic analog quality. It's my vision of what a modern vintage emulation should be like: Great analog sound, packed with features, and with a modern interface. (Also, its SEM filter screams.)
A well-behaved signature.

They can sound exactly the same, though, as a single hardware unit. There's nothing other than computing power and coding skill that's a barrier (i.e., it'll happen more and more as time continues).

I also know my hardware can't totally replace my software.

And also, with midi 2.0, way smoother that any analog oscillator in a hardware synth.
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

I don't know but this one just sounds bland to me. If this is how a real Memorymoog sounds then i don't get it. They're selling for 10k-30K on Reverb. The Gforce stuff, yeah they sound more beefy and alive, so I am particularly excited about their new Prophet-5 even though I have a few emulations already.

I see no announcements about a Gforce prophet-5. Where did you hear this?

I hope it's not true, not needed. I'd like to see them tackle the CS-80 or Jupiter-8. Even though there are others, I think their xmod system would be great with these, especially the jupiter, like the OB-X.

There was a leak today that may or may not have been a deliberate marketing ploy that listed it as a new product in the Gforce website. It was quickly removed

Since Gforce had a partnership with Novation the parent company of Sequential and Oberheim I am surprised it hasn't been done before, but I guess they finally ran out of Oberheim Synths to make plugins of

The last thing the world needs is yet another Prophet 5 plugin. Between Repro and Arturia I am all set, and I use Prophet 5 sounds all the time in my 80s cover band

Technically, anything that can be recorded as an audio file can be emulated.

Those 1's and 0's that make up an audio file are the end result of the recording, and the recording does not care how those 1's and 0's get there to make the sound.

That means that the source that created the sound can also be emulated to meet the end result which is the audio file. How accurate an emulation is simply depends on the programmers ability to dissect what they're hearing and the ability to translate it.

There are already analog synth emulations that are extremely accurate. Roland ACB synths are a great example. Not sure about this Memorymoog emulation from Arturia, but their Minimoog is pretty much spot on.

beely wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 6:35 pm It's the same old thing - people's vintage synths, especially unreliable ones, are going to be in various states of condition/calibration. The plugin is likely to be most accurate to the specific unit/s they modelled from (which were hopefully calibrated well before modelling), but also, because these plugins have variable "condition"-related parameters, a given preset might be set to be using for example a brand new factory perfect condition, and being compared to a notoriously unreliable vintage synth that might not have been calibrated well, or recently. It's possible that messing with the condition parameters and/or exactly knob positions etc would have brought things closer.

One demo randomly picking presets and comparing them quickly can be useful but shouldn't necessarily taken as reliable evidence one should make sweeping definitive conclusions from. You really want to see a few different comparisons, especially by people who have made the effort to explore when there are differences and be able to give some cause, and what they have to do to make it more closely match their particular synth, before deciding for yourself how good an emulation is, imo...

Just capturing the spirit of the OG Memorymoog.

I wish that they would release the Mini/Ultranova, Take 5 or a updated V-Station as a vst instead of another Prophet 5 Emulation.

So this will be the first vst from GForce that I will try out so i can compare it with my other Prophet 5 Emulations before i decide if it is worth buying.

I bought most of their plugins instantly since I didn't have other vst's to compare them with and the Bass Station was improved up to super Bass station territory so it replaced the old Bass station plugin i have and the intro prices where low enough so i didn't have to think twice about it :)

I did try out the Arturia Memory Moog plugin but it didn't add anything special compared what i already have so i will pass on this one.
