One thing that would be useful is ‘ducking’ on the master outs for each lane.
Hey simmo75!

Glad you're enjoying it, and thanks for the kind words! Ducking is on the list.
A quick question on the design before I build it.

When you say, "ducking on the master outs for each lane," what's the source you want triggering the duck?

Each slot's dry input ducks that slot's wet output: classic delay/reverb behavior, effect gets out of the way while you're playing and blooms in the gaps
The plugin's main input ducks every slot's output: one source, ducks the whole chain
Something else -- happy to hear what you had in mind
Current plan is to add it as a per-slot control (alongside the existing Out LoCut, HiCut, Air, Body), plus, a version on the Master strip -- but the source you want shapes how the controls look.

Cheers! :tu:

I like your plan to add it per slot control, for mixing use. I was building some pretty over the top effects, and ducking would really help control the overall balance. Being able to have control over the ducking frequency range would be even better. Like Devious Machines Duck sidechain filter, if possible.

Curious about the synth

Just Brainstorming

I know Spectrus is more a FX Chain than a Sequencer, for the actual State of the Plugin
the Multi Band Idea would be fit the most. Additional to some FX-Modules i mentioned below.

As i think on Multi FX mangling and breakcore/ glitches in my heads i would like infiltrator on Linux LOL*:

- per Band FX (stolen from HY MBMFX3) would fit to FX Chain Status of Spectrus the most
- FX triggering in a sequence (per step ramping / \) optional as send effect per step (useful for verb or delay) - Send FX will release the FX sound whereas Steps Cut the FX
- multiple output - means per FX Slot for post fx editing (BUS)

Sequencing:
You could have a kinda sequencer in this plugin (or an step modulator in every fx) as mentioned by pekbo (if i understand this right), where FX can dialed in as a number (for a global sequencer style),
To trigger these fx as playing the sequence. Every step could have like a ramp shape to control how the step is triggered.
If ramp-up the fx mix could slowly come into the audio signal depending on the play speed of the sequence.
This could be nice on every fx that is addressed to the step

seq.drawio.png

Modules (mostly adressed to the sequencing and firing up short burst of FX) but also as an addition to Spectrus in general:

- About Stutter, i would like to have more control when stutter or pitch/ reverse happens,
- Fake Accord FX (a single sound morphing into a minor chord for example) kinda unison/ detune stuff
- Pitch Stuff related to this (semi or octatve pitch)
- Stretch in 2 ways (shorter, longer) related to stutter fx where a buffered sound is used
- Sample Player (fades, reverse, filter) to trigger like noises or other samples to a rhythm (kinda shaperbox or)
- Filter Stuff
Thanks NWSM for the detailed reply and sketch, really helpful.

Most of what you described is one idea: a sequencer-driven multi-effect.

Now I need to unify them. You read pekbro right. Yours fits the same engine from another angle. His sequences param values, yours sequences slot activity. If I misread anything, please let me know.

Multiband is the one separate thing on your list that I'll have to consider.

The smaller items (filter, pitch, harmonizer, time stretch, sample player) mostly fall into the already-on-the-radar category.

For Stutterus, once there's a sequencer, it would allow more fine-tuned control, but I'll look at adding more Stutterus control in the meantime.

One ask: of everything you listed, which would you use most often? That helps me prioritise.
Thanks again. :tu:
Nice to read what is going on and interacting with the users. i am curious what will come next :)

That’s not easy to answer what i use more often—it really depends on several factors coming together.

If I’m experimenting, I often go for happy accidents first, then refine things like position and effect type afterward.
  • It depends on my goal: am I building a track or just exploring sounds?
  • How deep is the tool? How much control does it give me?
  • How well do I know the plugin—can I get specific results, or just interesting sounds?
  • Do the results fit my personal aesthetic?
  • Is it quick and intuitive, or do I want to dig in and explore?
When it comes to plugins, I usually decide whether I want to:
  • realize a specific idea,
  • search for samples or instruments,
or create happy accidents to save for later.
Once things get serious, I want more control:
  • I usually aim for a specific effect at a specific point, or sometimes across the whole sample.
  • I rarely use multiband processing—most of the time I apply effects to the full signal.
  • For samples, I often cut and replace slices manually, or record and refine random mangling from a tool.
With sequenced effects, I stay mostly controlled—I don’t rely heavily on randomness. In a finished track, I want effects to happen exactly where I intend them.

When i play with a Plugins:

I get ideas in my head about what I’d like to do in the moment, without worrying whether it will end up in a real track that I usually don’t know where it’s going.
It’s more of a “nice to have” thing—I’m not sure if I actually need it.

cheers*

Thanks, simmo75,
In the first iteration of the Ducker, I'm going with Depth, Attack, Release, Filter Freq, and Filter Q, with the filter fixed as a parametric bell cut. If time permits, I might add filter mode selection (BP / Notch / LP / HP), a trigger-side filter, and a threshold -- otherwise those will need to be in a later version, which really should also include a per-slot mixer overlay to hold the extra controls.

Cheers! :tu:

Hello!

Update coming soon. Just wanted to drop a tip for new users:
:tu:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tip: building a multi-effect chain across the 4 slots

Load a preset -- it drops into Slot 1. Click the lock icon (the slot border turns orange), then load another preset and it fills Slot 2. Repeat to stack up to 4 effects.
Random Mix (the shuffle / crossed-arrows button) randomizes every unlocked slot at once -- so lock the parts you like and keep shuffling the rest.
Drag the dashed strip under the effect animation to reorder slots, or right-click it to copy/paste an effect into another slot.
Full walkthrough coming soon to the manual - morphulus.com

Thanks again for that tip :)
