The way I would frame it is if you're asking people to invest in your business by selling the plugin, you should be willing to do the same by forking over the $99 to Apple so they don't have to jump through those extra hoops. That might also be why you don't see a purchase from the person who brought it up and may be missing out from other Mac users.Morphoice wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 7:24 pmI have no records of any purchase from you. Allowing unsigned software is a standard macOS setting that takes about 10 seconds. It's documented on the download page and on Apple's own support site. Plenty of indie plugins ship unsigned. If that's a dealbreaker for you, fair enough, but telling me how to spend money you never earned me isn't really how this works.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Mon May 25, 2026 1:03 am Never seen a commercial plugin not be code signed for apple. Pay the 99 bucks man, I don't want to have to quarantine software I buy.
This one's already settled, but I'll lay it out one more time. I do appreciate the input — really — but the conclusion doesn't change: I don't have the money. The plugin hasn't earned anywhere near enough to cover another €99 a year, and I can't pay for what I don't have.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 5:19 pmThe way I would frame it is if you're asking people to invest in your business by selling the plugin, you should be willing to do the same by forking over the $99 to Apple so they don't have to jump through those extra hoops. If your whole lineup of plug-ins were totally free, I would agree with you it's reasonable not to. But if you are selling plug-ins, having signed Mac binaries is kind of minimum table stakes for me.
He doesn't need an excuse. It's entirely up to him how he conducts his business. Don't like it? Move on. Not your concern.EvilDragon wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 8:26 pm You may think so, many others will disagree. You are reducing your possible revenue with your own cheapskating.
There are free and open source projects out there that have no problems in providing signed binaries. You have no excuse for this.
