Man paid by software company says software is cool (not that I disagree with him though).

Does anyone really think Mothersbaugh is desperate for money from Arturia?

It's a paid endorsement, nothing to do with being desperate.

So Mothersbaugh with music royalties in the tens of millions each year is poor and needs money doing endorsements? :-).

Post

Citation needed for his accounts, but nobody said he 'needed' the money.

A paid job is a paid job.

Not sure about tens, but he earns over a million a year from one theme song alone.

Only poor musicians do endorsements?
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Are you guys trying to say that is not how he really feels and he is actually lying about his preference and workflow? Got any proof of that?

Post

If he's that hard up, he'll be writing music for commercials next.

I dont think Devo ever commented on commercialisation or capitalism, did they?

I've said this a million times and I'll say it another million times. NONE of you guys could tell what synth, hardware, software or otherwise, was in a song buried in the mix. Now, if you want to talk about the feel of playing an instrument where you turn knobs and slide sliders as opposed to moving a mouse, fine. I get that there might be a certain thrill of getting your hands on a Minimoog. But sound wise? You couldn't tell the difference between a hardware Minimoog and The Legend buried in the mix of a song.

So you need to get over yourselves that hardware sounds better than software.

It doesn't.

Some people got spicy when it comes to useless debate :D

I dont know, the other day I receive a juno 106 wih a typical voice coating issue (the cover being conductive at some point), it tends to make some drone sounding stuff without key pressed with spikes of voltage to spice things up.

Completely broken, and impossible to achieve with software

Everything is Paid endorsement these days so buy the products you like and not base it on what other people think ;)
Here is a strong example of playing on the Nostalgia of the past.

I was hoping Gforce would release their new thing today so we could have a new reason to rehash this debate

Jordan Rudess used to endorse nearly everything. I don’t think he’s hurting for money.
