Let’s speculate about 6.1

That would be amazing. I somehow don't see it happening after they introduced Stepwise, but who knows…pdxindy wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 4:59 am For 6.1 I'd most like a Logic Pro type Step Sequencer. That thing is awesome!

I've sent in emails explaining why the approach of the Logic Step Sequencer is fundamentally better. It's not running a separate timeline, but is integrated in the main DAW timeline. It's visible and represented in the Arrangement the same as regular midi clips and like midi clips, is just as easy to define where it starts and stops.
I never use Stepwise, or any 3rd party sequencer plugins. They're too clumsy. I'd rather use regular midi clips.

why ask for a rigid step sequencer clip when you can just spend 6 hours building a semi-functional, unstable equivalent inside the grid that drifts out of sync?

Five12 Numerology running as VST still my go to for step sequencing. Stepwise is too limited and the lack of expanded view makes it very fiddly to work with.pdxindy wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 5:52 pm For 6.1 I'd most like a Logic Pro type Step Sequencer. That thing is awesome!

+1 for Step Sequencer + Groove Pool (again, and again)
R.I.P. Stepwise. You were stunted from the start.

Yeah just coming here to say that Stepwise isn't enough. Some thing similar to the Logic example given (never used it tho) or Stepic - yes we need polymetry and probability - or the sequencer in Battalion - is what I would actually need
for now I've been building things in the grid but a stepwise rebuild would be a critical win

6.1 I want that Linux feature where they have the 3rd party vst nested in the device window with scaled down gui on Mac lmao (dont flame me Linux crowd) that is fire. I’m not tech savvy enough to deal with Linux though so pls

Mac and Linux are kind of similar.
Windows folks have to make the big adjustment. No C: drive and whatnot.

Any speculation on when we'd be seeing a 6.1 beta?
Nothing against v6, it's visually great, a few nice enhancements, and relatively stable now. And I know the main thrust of 6 was about internal stability and setting a foundation for the future.
But just on raw feature releases, Ableton has been crushing Bitwig over the last couple of years. I'm hoping now with v6 mostly solidified, that we're about to see an onslaught of production-focused features coming.

Revamped Automation Editing
Alias Clips
Global Scales
Midi Step Input
That's not enough new features for V6?

Revamped Automation Editing - minor improvement
Alias Clips - minor improvement, not something I really needed
Global Scales - don't use
Midi Step Input - don't use
I can't remember the last new feature that significantly improved my quality of life with the software. It was probably around Nov 2024 when they made it so you don't have to go into the settings every time you switch from interface/mains to headphone jack... I actually re-upped my upgrade plan just for that.
