IMHO it's a step back. PA can be activated to a USB stick for future offline activations. UA's implementation requires an internet connection to activate, so it's not as future-proof.

I have most of their plugins via PA and having them on Linux would be great but I just won't deal with online activation anymore.

I feel the same way about online activation. Any sort of vendor-dependent copy protection, including challenge response is a negative in my book.

Went to https://amadeuspaulussen.com/info/gear to see if he was rocking any new ins, and he has more unfiltered audio betas on his gear list:

I don't see them publicly available anywhere.

Also, on their individual plugin pages I see that plugin alliance is needed for activation (at least currently, for windows and mac). I have never used pa before, I wonder how that plays out for us.

PA could just switch the Trigger and add Linux OS...What the problem?
Well maybe UA think twice about PA...i am curious.

An oldie company that has returned and look sexy:
Bluelab plugins...I think they are paid open source (like Sinus Labs' Reach), but I haven't tried to build them.
