JUNO-6 done, which Roland Synth should I model next? Jupiter-8?

Make something modular or semi-modular. It can be inspired by Roland synths, but give us lots of modulation options, etc.
See Korg Multi/Poly for reference. That's a semi-modular with a modern GUI and a beautiful sound.

A well-behaved signature.

Semi-modular would be neat. Or something like Diva where you can mix-and-match between the different oscillators and filters that you’ve modeled would be cool, too.

Ask Roger if you can use the EPROMS. I can imagine he will give you permission. He doesn’t value those old sounds very high anyway… And he is the nicest guy in this industry imaginable…Morphoice wrote: Tue Jun 23, 2026 7:20 pm The LinnDrum is done too, though I haven't sampled all the EPROMs I own yet, I can't just bindump and copy them for the obvious copyright reasons. Also I still need to finish the MIDI mod to the hardware, before I can use it again. It's on the shelf in pieces rn.

good idea! Maybe one day a "MorphModular "with all the OSC/VCF/VCA and Effect DSP I modeled over the xears interchanable. I'll keep that in mindrobelanator wrote: Tue Jun 23, 2026 9:57 pm Semi-modular would be neat. There are so many Jupiter 8 Emulations out there now that i think it will be hard to try to sell another one.
I would stay away from making a SH-101, TB-303, Juno (Except for maybe a 106) or a Jupiter 4 If i where making Roland plugins.
There is already released so many of them in Digital Hardware and software and i think most people are already happy with the ones they have.
If you for want to go for a Jupiter 8 for example you would need to make it a bit more interesting so it stands out in the Crowd by adding a extra sub oscillator or a Extra Oscillator or something else that can make it go beyond the limitations of a pure Jupiter 8 when the user want it to do so.
Adding a Vintage knob or slider won't be enough to make it more interesting than the other Jupiter 8's.

The original question doesn’t seem to have been too serious. Doing the Jupiter 8 seems to be a labor of love and not something to make money in the first place. It helps the OP to let go the hardware, which might make more money than selling the plugin…
And as he does not tell us what else of hardware he owns, any suggestion for all the not yet done emus will go into the void…
He might buy some other HW though based on some suggestions… Who knows…

A fully "analogue emulation" with tuning/frequency per voice card that needs to be set..
That mode would make a real hardware experience. Envelope speeds, VCA generating distortion, Q out of control... Everything adjustable per 8 voices, and settings get smoothly lost on each plug-in run.

Personal opinion, but I've come to find those implementations to be tedious in practice. I wouldn't mind a single knob or a switch with some presets, or the MultiPoly approach where you have a few knobs to control the wonkiness of various elements with a global depth, but I don't like the 8 or more trimmers for each of the 8 voices approach. My goal is to move fast and that becomes too slow.wikter wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 5:10 pm A fully "analogue emulation" with tuning/frequency per voice card that needs to be set..
