Ok, so, I'm not happy with the end result, but I need to stop fiddling with it. I like some of the individual parts, but as a whole feels a bit soulless. The mix isn't very good either, that doesn't help :clown:

I think the main failing was that I was originally trying to force a vision for the sound design onto OB-Xf, rather than letting it actually dictate the direction and play to its strengths, so the end result is a mix of things thrown together that I don't feel nearly as cohesive as they should be.

It was a good playground for some different stuff though - side-chained compression, reverb, bus compression (but probably not used very well), and some native DAW LFO automation of the synth options.

Keen for next month, I have some composition ideas I want to play with, and this time let the synth actually drive the sounds rather than ham-fisting shit together.

ReaFir (Cockos - EQ) x 12

Does Ob-xf have Program Change to quickly switch between banks and presets if this is possible already ?

Post

Yes, steps to make it happen:

1. Inside your user patches folder (Documents/Surge Synth Team/OB-Xf/Patches) create a new folder called MIDI Programs
2. Place your wanted patches inside of it. Prefix them with 000, 001, 002 etc to specify the order in which you want them (it's going to be natural/alphabetically sorted)
3. Program Change should work next time you instantiate OB-Xf (or, if you've already had an instance running, refresh the patch browser)

This won't work with VST3 as it stands, only CLAP and AU, if I remember correctly. Same deal as in Surge XT.

Third time entering OSC! I had some plugins disabled but I don't know if the script detects that. The harmonic plugins are just OB-Xf I renamed
