The price makes sense if you haven't purchased all the included VST instruments already. I own them and still bought the upgrade already. I love it.

It would be better if they were taken into account though - so do I

Please explain why. None of the big new features do much for me personally (although I appreciate that multi-channel may be a vast improvement for some), but I may be tempted to try it out if people are very positive about the UI changes, project admin etc.

I notice WF14 Free has also been released which, I believe, it not usually released at the same time as Pro. Neat welcome bundle available for $10 too.

Considering we are asked to pay once every two years, and get an.5 update midway through that period I just pay 'to keep the lights on' so to speak. This time I'm supporting the direction they're heading in and the attempt to integrate AI as an assistant ( brilliant use for it if it works as intended)

Open a bug report about this!Granath wrote: Sun Jun 28, 2026 12:06 pm I just tried to send a short looped MIDI pattern to my external synth in Waveform 14 and ended up with hanging notes. The note‑off clearly isn’t handled correctly at the loop boundary, even though the notes are snapped and non‑overlapping.
Waveform’s new built‑in AI then suggested “shortening the last note” as a workaround – exactly the kind of hack I last had to do on my Atari ST in the 1980s. This is what annoys me: sloppy core behaviour being glossed over with an AI feature.
The devs are not monitoring this user-to-user forum closely, but bug reports become visible to them, for sure. Although they are known to not answering on each bug report personally - as it would be wished - they do read all of them!

In short, It feels less cluttered. The UI feels more refined and finished. ARA2 is working well. It just feels like a more stable version than 13. Download the demo and you'll see the smaller improvements that make it feel more like a pro-level DAW.skipscada wrote: Mon Jun 29, 2026 6:55 pmPlease explain why. Thanks! I appreciate the usefulness of some of the new features, but they just don't coincide with my needs and interests, so they're not really a selling point for me. But de-clutter, refinement and stability are pluses for all users. Will test it when I have time.cjayconrod wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2026 1:56 amIn short, It feels less cluttered. Just downloaded Waveform 14 free and like it so far, it works really well on my macbook and if I'm lucky it will also work on my ancient Windows desktop. I don't miss the properties panel at all but I do miss having the play/record/whatever controls in the bottom right corner of the screen.
I bought Waveform 13 pro a couple of years ago and use the #T suite of plugins all the time, I think those are from the Pro version? I also use Biotek frequently and bought Biotek 3 when it was released. Apart from that I don't use any of the pro version features as far as I know, so I think I'm good with Waveform Free for the foreseeable future. I might buy the multichannel functionality as an addon at some point, because I like to tell myself that I'll start doing multichannel audio any day now (I have believed this for more than ten years
)
Edit: I finished a track in 25 minutes in Waveform 14, uploaded the wrong version by accident, and then spent half an hour wrestling with Soundcloud to try to upload a new version (unsuccessfully). Anyway, W14 is very easy to get used to, and apologies to anyone who heard my unmixed track while it was up!

Virtual Keyboard is clumsy, or is there a way of automating it? I used to use it (previous versions) without turning over to the physical MIDI keyboard, to audition the range of notes. MIDI typing works for that, but for 2 octaves only.
I see it can be turned ON in settings, but no way to minimize it, and if shut down then clumsy to turn back on ?
(Oh, yeah, this was part of the properties panel previously... I see it can be toggled with the actions window if selecting input device)
