The impact:The lock button, pencil (target) button and thumbtack (view toggle) have been removed from the Layer List in the Detail Editor Panel. These controls existed in the documented user guide and earlier builds.
No hard protection against accidental edits to ghost tracks
Clicking a note on a dimmed layer switches the edit target without warning
Every target-track change requires exiting to ARRANGE, re-selecting clips, returning to EDIT — unnecessary friction baked into every composition session
The "Edit only selected layers" filter toggle does not reliably hide layers in practice
The ask:
Restore the lock button.
Restore per-layer target/view controls in the Layer List.
The multi-clip layered editing architecture you built in Bitwig 6 is genuinely good.
Finish it.
Linux users have no alternative DAW at this quality level. We are not going anywhere. We need these controls to work properly.
