It is enough to go to REDDIT and few other Forums to see how many other users have the same or similar problem. The installation of version 3 has only 3 prompts. There is nothing to mess up (unless somebody mess up the folders), so obviously you do not know what you saying by stating "poked around the install rather than just letting it run as intended".

You just simply showing your ignorance and instead of posting some solution you putting the blame on the user.
I would not be surprised you work for Spectrasonics or benefit from their sells (that's common behavior).

I have not said that every user has a problem, some do not and I am aware of that. Yes - I am super upset about lack of response from Omnisphere.
If your think I lie - it is your problem not mine. I am not here to argue with you, you have right to think whatever you want. Even your statements about installing it on 6 computers are laughable, but that's your choice and it's OK. Screen is like a paper, it will take whatever your mind produce, and nobody can validate your statements are true.

If you have a solution to the problem post it here and if not then simply skip this post and do not bother. I will not respond to your accusations anymore.

This you?

Most people who install version 3 for the first time will have no problems of any kind, but the rest will.
Your entire rant is based on the fact that you upgraded to 3 from 2 and ran into issues. Then you claimed that new users won't experience issues, but the rest will. Which is it?

Only problem is the rest don't, but awesome you found a random guy on Reddit who claims he had an issue

That would mean Omnisphere has a 99.99+% success rate

IvyBirds - go in front of the mirror and argue with yourself, I am not into it. I am looking for solutions and will not respond to your posts, which make no sense. It is obvious you either benefit from the sells or you R a boot. END OF TRANSMISSION FOR YOU.

Can't we all just get along? LOL

Finally I got in touch with SPECTRASONICS REP.
Of course they lied to me about trying to call me (and no answer), sending me Emails and no response) etc. Typical lies! :-(

FINALLY:
We did remote session. Unfortunately he seemed to be not really well-educated on the product. I wasted 4-5 hours following his advice to uninstall OMNISPHERE (both v2 and v3), downloading new files (despite none of my HD files were corrupted and removing any kind of SPECRASONICS references.
After all this time I got to SQUARE ONE. I get same errors. All OMNISPHERE-2 tracks do not make sound or I get a message to replace the plugin with v3. They guy assured me the STEAM folder is compatible with v2 and v3 but obviously it is not.
At certain point after a first phase, and installing OMNISPHERE-2 only, I was able to open the old projects and the patches loaded as expected (at least on one project I tried). The moment I installed version 3 everything got messed up again.

I am writing this so if you have this same problem, do not make this mistake. Do not install version 3. In my case I do not have any choices and this makes my just furious. If I keep v2 only all me new projects from last 6 weeks will now work, and if I install version 3 all my old projects will not work.
I really do not understand how such a well known developers could release such a CRAP :-( well - somehow they did.
BASICALLY AFTER 10 DAYS PROBLEM STILL UNRESOLVED AND I AM STUCK with few hundred dollars invested into SPECTRASONICS to destroy my work!
I am sorry you are having this issue, but let's not forget that this issue is not being experienced by anyone else

So let's also not forget that the issue is probably something specific to your machine and setup

Because I experienced nothing like you suggested and talk about Omnisphere on many different groups all over the net and no one has even suggested anything like what you have

So no Spectrasonics didn't release a crap product, they released a phenomenal product enjoyed by thousands of people none of which have your issue, but like all software made by all manufacturers might run into something user or machine specific
Not exactly true. Getting daily complaints from co writers having wasted days on these exact issues. We’re at least 15 people back on Omnisphere 2 - and yes it’s almost like Spectrasonics has left the country, taking a seriously extended vacation after creating an absolute mess.

So out of the thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people who have upgraded we are NOT seeing this issue reported widely, but we seem to have a group of people who state are working together as "co writers" who seem to be having issues

Seems like whatever is going on it's a specific issue with a specific user group of "Co writers" and not a Spectrasonics issue

Are these Co writers all using the same user preset libraries and STEAM directory? Sounds sus

And again Spectrasonics didn't leave the country and has already reached out to the OP

I am also currently experiencing this issue and found this thread while searching for solutions. There seem to be some very strange assumptions about how many people are experiencing this issue based entirely on what is being posted in this specific forum. It takes a minimal amount of searching on Reddit to find a fair number of people experiencing the same issue.

Update: My issue has been resolved. In my case, I had to make sure the new VST2 omnisphere.dll properly replaced the old one so that Ableton could find it. I removed the old .dll from the folder and did a reinstall of omnishpere 3. Pretty quick fix, and fwiw, I think Omnisphere 3 is a really nice product.

found this topic and there might be 2 solutions?

From FarleyCZ
Hi everyone. I faced the same issue and I found out what was happening.

In my case, Omnisphere 2 VST2 dll was not succesfully overwriten by Omnisphere 3 VST2 version. That way, when I was loading old projects that used VST2 instance of Omnisphere, the Omnipshere 2 was loading instead of Omnisphere 3, but since Omni3 shuffles the STEAM folder during installation, Omni2 couldn't find the soundsources.

Omnisphere 3 does have a VST3 version and it loads old presets in old projects correctly. Make sure the *.dll in your VST folder is the new one. Not the old one.

Also if you happen to have both *.dlls in that folder, chance is your DAW will load the older one as well. In Ableton for example, while the plugin scanning is happening, if it finds two plugins with the same name, it will scan just one of them, skipping the other one. So in the Ableton's browser it looks like you have just one VST2 Omnisphere while you can have both Omni2 and Omni3 in the folder at the same time. If I had to bet, I'd say you have the same problem like me.

So:

- Remove all Omnisphere.dll files from your VST2 folder. (Search in all it's subfolders.)

- Remove all Omnisphere.vst3 from your VST3 folder. (Search in all it's subfolders.)

- Reinstall Omni (just the program, not the soundsources).

- Rescan plugins.

...and now your old projects should be working fine.

I just had this same problem after updating to Omnisphere 3 (Using Cubase 14, Windows 10).
The project would load the V2 of Omnishphere instead of V3 and it would tell me that the patch is not available.
The patch would actually exist in the legacy library of V3, but because Cubase would load V2 still, it would not work.

My trick was to go to my vst plugin folders, and I temporarily removed the VST2 version of omnisphere (.dll file) and only the vst3 versions of the plugin would be available.

Restarted cubase to rescan the plugins database, then Cubase told me it has replaced Omnisphere v2 with v3 automatically, and patches would load correctly :)

Had 0 problems with 2 or 3, but I think that FarleyCZ and electrypnose have the leading. Wrong version still existing.
