For separate editing you will need to make sure the EDIT BOTH button is not high lighted (on).

could someone explain correctly how to edit each layer separately? Every time I try it just ends up editing both so that both layers sound the same. The manual is just unhelpful on this (as usual, gofrce's workflow is needlessly obtuse). Doesn't matter if i select either layer or solo, or swith the layer button to the corresponding layer. It never works and this is highly frustrating

Just tested it and it works as it should here.
Are you sure that Edit Both is disabled so you can click on the part you want to change.

If that is not disabled it will change both parts at the same time.

I noticed the both element was active. But oi had to restart the plug in because I couldn't toggle it. Bit annoying but seems to work.

Is there any way to assign the mod wheel to a different parameter rather than it's hardwired function ( the way you can with repro) ?

To assign the wheel (or any continuous control) to a modulation source, click CC in the bottom right corner. Go wild.
