Hive 2: RM, Hardsync, FM?

I already have Zebra 3. So some may ask: "What else do you need..?"
However, Hive 2 is on sale right now on Image-Line website with the 50% discount. No, I'm not having a GAS now, but Hive 2 is very light on CPU and it may be very useful in many cases. But before buying it, I would like to know if it gets RM, Hardsync or FM (one knob FM) in the future?

I don't think Urs will ever add those features. But a Hive 3 with them and a 3rd oscillator would be cool! You can fake FM and RM sounds using the sideband filter at 100% keytracking. I made a really cool Roland or Moog modular-esque bell sound with the sideband filter. As for FM and Sync, you can use wavetables. There are several factory wavetables you can get started with. Plugmon has made excellent FM and analog-style wavetables that take advantage of the dual-axis feature.
Edit: You may also want to look into ACE. It has those features you want, but it doesn't have supersaws or wavetables, though. I prefer Hive's smoother sound.

Hive is almost perfect. The only thing I'd really like them to add is wavetable warping/distortion modes.

Not sure, if Hive will ever go to 3, but the concept now is, to bake things like RM, FM into the wavetables via the uhm scripts. I never got into details of this, but it would be worth to check out, what AI can now do for us in these times. Furthermore there is interesting, that in Hive you are not bound to 1-dimensionsal tables, but can have 2 dimensions instead, which make things more interesting.

you mean a fifth osc...Korg Supporter wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 9:51 pm I don't think Urs will ever add those features. But a Hive 3 with them and a 3rd oscillator would be cool!

No, a third main oscillator independent of the two, not a sub osc.exmatproton wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 11:55 amyou mean a fifth osc...Korg Supporter wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 9:51 pm I don't think Urs will ever add those features. But a Hive 3 with them and a 3rd oscillator would be cool!

If anything, the current Subs would Sync or FM or RM to the main oscillators. It's just, the whole oscillator unison concept makes any of this hard to do, both development wise and in terms of satisfying user experience.

Yeah..so a fifth osc..since the 2 sub osc's are also just osc's. But i get you..a fifth full blown osc, with the same options as the 2 main osc's.Korg Supporter wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 11:55 amNo, a third main oscillator independent of the two, not a sub osc.exmatproton wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 11:55 amyou mean a fifth osc...Korg Supporter wrote: Thu May 28, 2026 9:51 pm I don't think Urs will ever add those features. Would be nice indeed. Would be great if that one could be used as a modsource
