It sounds good and the price is nice, but I definitely don’t need another reverb. However, I just saw that I could upgrade from FX Collection v4 to v6 for $99 and this is included for free. That’s something to consider….

If I set it to 10 seconds the decay is done in about 5 seconds, and if I set it to 50 seconds it's over in about 8 seconds. I assume it's a bug, which I've reported. Definitely not a long enough reverb tail for serious ambient. (Edit: Arturia support agree that something is wrong and are looking into it)
If Arturia support agrees, then they gonna fix the bug in 2030. it's Arturia.

I am staying away from all big brands who release a minor update every year and asks for money. I would rathen buy a plugin from a serious developer who is know by quality, not marketing.

Which is why I love Valhalla. They researched on a plugin for many years, and then release it.
Big brands like Arturia, UVI etc sells for cheap and sells paid update every year and all they do is duct tape their old code into new flashy ui and different signal flow.

Arturia don’t make you pay for updates. And certainly not each year.

Every Pigments update is free. And they have actually improved its performance and given it multi-core support.

Seriously, Pigments is one of the best supported software synths around. Not one payed update since its initial release. Other developers would have already have you spent a modern analog synth for updating from 1 - 7, just something to think about.

So, I upgraded from v4 to v6 and got 10 new effects for $99, including Ocean  I spent about an hour this morning checking Ocean out with various vocals and synths and I’m actually more impressed with it than I thought I would be. It’s definitely got a vibe and a clean and easy to navigate interface (I turned off the visuals, thanks for that option, Arturia). I didn’t check the manual for any hidden features, since it’s very straightforward, but maybe I should. It will certainly fall into a special-use category, but it’s pretty easy to dial in some very lush sounding reverbs with it. I probably wouldn’t have bought it as a standalone, but now that I have it, I like it.

It almost seems to me as if they designed this algorithm as an effects module for Pigments, or even their V Collection, but then decided it would make a good plugin in its own right. Not saying this is true, it just seems that way.

Arturia doesn't sell paid updates. They update their software for free. I got version on of Pigments and have never paid to upgrade it. With the V collection when they come out with a new V Collection it has new instruments included and existing owners get a deep discount so you are really only paying for new instruments. If you don't buy the new collection they will still update all the existing instruments you own for free

The same goes for the FX collection

not entirely true. they sell updates for single v collection instruments like Mini V3 to Mini V4 etc.
at least sometimes.

But those are not minor upgrades, they are complete rebuilds and are totally new plugins, and they don't come out every year

Arturia Mini 3V came out in 2016, Mini 4V came out in December 2024 over 8 years later, it had a completely new DSP engine, new effects, and a bunch of new features.

It's hardly a minor release that Arturia was asking you to buy every year

And Arturia updated Mini 3V over those 8 years many times for free

Post

i didn't said, it's minor updates. and i also didn't complain. i'm totally fine with how they handle it. i just replied to your statement "arturia doesn't sell updates".

Yeah big overhaul updates they will charge for. My problem is they break their compatibility with their older presets when they do that. So that can be annoying.

Fortunately, this doesn't happen to Pigments, well, it hasn't yet. But they do charge for upgrades periodically, but I don't think every major version so I'm a little confused as to when this happens
