I just bought this as part of the full suite of their plugins, and I like it a lot.

Manta

What sets this apart is, you can automate the time/tap parameters with NO artifacts (i.e. tape speed noises), so you can use it to create new rhythms out of source material without all that wishy-washy tape speed emulation when the time reference is modulated to new value.
The only other delay I have that can do this is Unfiltered Audio’s ‘Sandman Pro’ in ‘Instant Mode’ (would love to hear of any others!)

A handful of weird and wonderful modes, it was the first plugin I was aware of that offered seamless delay time switching without pitch/click artifacts (think this is a lot more common now though), and you can do sampler style loop manipulation effects by freezing the buffer and messing with its start/end points.

edit: just remembered you can also do really gross timestretching/granular effects by abusing the seamless delay time tweaking I mentioned (called "Instant Mode" in the plug)
I just posted about ‘Manta’ which also features the ‘without pitch/click artifacts’/ ‘seamless delay’…are you aware of others?

you can abuse any delay and use it for creative and experimenting stuff.*

the op question -they way it was phrased out, not giving any context- makes not much sense to me.
until we talk about: to get feed for your p2p download requests"" ( or whatever it`s called what they use now)

Whenever i see such threads -> but with no context given, even not taking anytime, this very feel comes up. ymmv

* and ANY delay will sound different, will lead to different things.
AND: suckers for creative work with delays do buy them all.....and develope then from there a feel which ones are fav.

i personally i put the focus first on the control curvatures -> THERE can i turn literally ANY Delay into a great little mothafucka -> by creating my own control curvatures redraw ( which most hosts CAN`T do.....-> there the story starts in real.....anyway)

** not doing any direct acusation here. just in general

my vote would go to other desert citys / Modnetic / Timeless / Fabfilter delay + ones own abuse power / Chow matrix (Delay / freeware)....and many more
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Really good suggestions so far. I'd add Newfangled Audio Recirculate and Minimal Audio Cluster Delay. They can do some nice, weird things.

Honestly , I can’t think of anything I would consider specifically an experimental delay.
As others have said, most delays can do funky stuff.

One thing I didn't know about, but later learned, is that if you're a Bitwig user, the stock delay and reverb allow you to host any plugin inside the feedback loop. Great for slowly degrading delays, or overall mayhem. Make sure you have a limiter after the delay plugin, or even at the end of the feedback chain.

Late Replies can do that too.

I’ve got some pedals that do the feedback thing too. Honestly, I think I’ve yet to use that effectively.

Yeah, Late Replies is actually a lot more extensive, as each tap can have its own chain.

It can be VERY touchy. Gain staging is extremely important. Often your feedback level needs to be very low to avoid getting out of control self oscillation, though that can be fun too, as long as you have a limiter in the chain.
