I think I found the main issues and improved the conversion. TL;DR: In the converted “It’s a Prophet 5” patch, try:
  • Filter Envelope Amount: 56.72
  • Filter Envelope Decay: 73.51
  • Filter Envelope Sustain: 25.92
The patch was sustaining a little too low, so I measured the filter envelope separately from the amp envelope and added new timing and sustain lookup tables.

The bigger discovery, which I stumbled upon while doing those tests, was that the Rev 4’s Rev 1/2 filter has substantially more Filter Envelope Depth than the Rev 3 filter. At higher settings, it can open almost five semitones farther.

Previously, I had been using a mapping based only on Rev 3 measurements of the Envelope Amount. I’ve now measured the hardware Rev 3 and Rev 1/2 filters separately, along with RePro’s Poly and Driven filters, and added separate mappings for each.

I haven’t tested a large number of patches yet, but this should bring Rev 1/2 patch conversions noticeably closer. Let me know whether those three changes improve this one. If yes, and I don't find anything having changed substantially for the worse, I'll post a new build with those changes in a few days.

Prophet-5/10 Rev4 to RePro-5 Converter — Version 2.5.14 Released

Hi everyone,

I’ve released version 2.5.14 of my Prophet-5/10 Rev4 SysEx to u-he RePro-5 preset converter.

This is a substantial update focused on getting converted patches closer to the hardware in actual use, rather than simply translating parameter positions. A lot of the mapping has been rebuilt or refined using direct measurements from a Prophet Rev4 and RePro-5. A lot of listening. A lot more analyzing and measuring.

The biggest improvements are in filter behavior, envelopes, Poly Mod, oscillator tuning, resonance matching, unison patches, and output-level consistency. This release also supports the continuous Velocity and Aftertouch Amount controls added in Prophet Rev4 firmware 2.0.4.

Windows and macOS launcher files are now included, so most users will not need to type the Python command manually.

A few limitations remain because the Prophet and RePro-5 do not behave identically in every area. Audio-rate modulation, some extreme Poly Mod patches, and hardware polyphonic glide cannot always be reproduced exactly. Then of course, there's no Polyphonic Glide in RePro or Polyphonic Unison, let alone Chord memory. That said, the converter is now producing very usable results across a wide range of factory and third-party patches.

Feedback and difficult test patches are welcome.
