amplab 0.7.2 is out.
This update continues the work on dynamic cabinet behavior under heavier master load and overload pressure. I also added a new NoiseGate module and finally implemented mirrored Windows audio output for the standalone version, which makes realtime demo/video recording much less painful on ASIO setups.

amplab v0.8.0 — Release changes
- Reduced input level to handle hot humbuckers and boost pedals better
- Less unwanted distortion at lower Gain settings
- Removed clicks and crackling while turning controls
- Smoother real-time control changes
- Cleaner pick attack with less harsh high-frequency fizz
- Improved cabinet response under heavy load
- More consistent sound across different guitars and pickup outputs

They includes the full signal chain: gate, drive, preamp, power amp and cabinet. A USB audio interface is recommended. Latency and stability depend on the Android device.

* New interface with a more intuitive signal flow layout
* Replaced custom controls with native rotary knobs for improved usability
* Reworked British amp models for more authentic voicing and gain structure
* Better transition from classic crunch to high-gain tones
* Refined Green OD behavior and interaction with amp stages
* Revoiced Steel Distortion with stronger low-end response
* Added a slight fuzz-like character at the edge of saturation for Steel Distortion
* Reduced cabinet buzzing at lower gain settings
* Smoother transition into cabinet saturation under light playing dynamics
* Improved overall consistency of dynamic cabinet behavior

A quick update: Amplab Community Edition have been submitted to the KVR Developer Challenge 2026.
While waiting for the challenge release, I'm continuing to work on bug fixes, presets, and general polish. Thanks to everyone who has tested the plugins and provided feedback so far.

Amplab is a real-time guitar amp and effects processor for Android focused on low latency and realistic amp response.
I'm mainly interested in testing:
- USB audio interface compatibility
- Stability on different Android devices
- Latency

- Bugs and UI issues

Amplab 2.1.0 — major update
This is a large pass over the whole instrument — not a polish release. Amp stages, cabinets, the FX route and the desktop UI were all rebuilt with the goal of making Amplab feel more like a real amp under the fingers and less like a static plugin chain. If you used 1.x, this should sound and play noticeably better.
Amp / power
- Deeper work on the amp path so gain builds and recovers more naturally instead of flattening into one wall
- Power amp and supply behaviour tightened so drive, clarity and master interact more like a real head
- Factory voices re-checked end-to-end; cleaner cleans, more usable British edges, denser modern gain without turning to mush
Cabinets (big part of this update)
- Dynamic cab path reworked: not just a fixed EQ curve
- Enclosure reflections, excursion / compression under load, and breakup that actually moves with playing energy
- Better match between power model and cab voicing so each preset sits in a more convincing “amp into box” space
- Cab response now carries more of the “this feels alive” character of the plugin
FX chain & pedals
- The old chain was the weak link — 2.1 rebuilds it into a proper route: Gate → Drive → Preamp → Mod → Power → Cab → Delay → Reverb
- Visual FX router + per-block editor (tap a block, tweak knobs, on/off in place)
- Drive models, modulation, delay and reverb brought up to the same standard as the amp path instead of sitting as light add-ons
- Signal order matches what you hear: mod before power, time FX after cab
UI
- Amp-head face for day-to-day playing (presets, gain/EQ, master)
- FX router / pedal editor for deep editing without dumping everything on one screen
- Clearer separation between “play the amp” and “edit the chain”
Community 2.1.0 (free, Win / macOS / Linux)
- Same amp set as full
- Power + cab baked into presets (no model pickers)
- Chain cut to Preamp → Power → Cab → Room reverb
- Meant as a real amp/cab audition, not a crippled toy demo
Platforms
- Matched 2.1.0 packages for Windows, macOS and Linux (Standalone + VST3; Windows ASIO in the full/standalone builds)
Bottom line: cabinets and FX were the main quality bottlenecks; both got serious work. The amp side was tightened with them. Result should be a clearer, more dynamic, more “playable” Amplab than 1.x.
