Would seem Windows is still the best option for an Audio DAW and gaming?

macOS is "good enough" for occasional gaming. I mean, it has a decent graphics API these days, rather nice GPUs and Steam. What else would one need?

Hmm? They only came when Windows 10 was released, and it was a bad choice: see Microsoft giving now us 35 days to say yes or "more time" for the updates.RirtualViot2013 wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2026 4:59 pm Windows has been a great OS, but its historically being plagued by automatic updates
Though us running Pro versions, can use GPO to block it completely.

Automatic updates? Only if did not configured them to do so, then they stayed out of the way, unlike in 10 and 11 (without Pro version and GPO modification).

Maybe if they do Metal versions of them, but I guess its so niche, only the major ones may convert, like CP2077. Still, the gpu's are now much better than before, when Apple insisted using shittiest bottom of the barrel crap they found from the floor... (yeah I am old, I hated using ppc mac with a cirrus logic on photoshop, as the "gpu" was holding everything back.)pekbro wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2026 6:59 pm Most of the latest AAA titles should be playable on recent Macs I would guess.

There are a whole bunch of AAA games working on Mac besides BG3 and CP2077: Death Stranding, Lies of P, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage + Shadows, Civilization VII, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (and more than that ofc). Apple released a tool to help developers port their games to Mac. We will definitely see even more games that work natively on Mac in the future, without any compatibility layers.
I don't game on my Mac Mini M4 Pro, but I assume you won't be able to get much more than 30 fps though, especially not with higher settings.
