Why I'm going to pass on T2 upgrade

I like T1 ALOT. I have the official commercial 1.6. I primarily use audio and vst's for Tracktion. My primary need for Tracktion was an acid like loop matcher. And some adjusted audio editing features which the program did not get (such as easier cleanup of small clips). I don't really enjoy programming midi at all, but will touch up if need be( thus the advanced midi specs don't really effect how I use the program).

I plan on keeping Tracktion 1.6 as my primary DAW and using it for a long time :)

But im not going to by the T2 upgrade. I think alot of the plugins are just freeware spam, or unwanted commercials in the program. I would have rather seen one good plugin included, and that be it than a bunch of freeware. I can get that stuff anytime I want. I would have loved to have seen a warm filter or enhancer/exciter plugin versus all this other stuff. You cant load samples into Sampletank SE which makes it pointless IMHO.

So I think I will wait and just enjoy my T1 for a long time, and I will probably pick up Acid or Live 4 to cover the audio/looping tools that I was looking for.

T1 still works great for me and I highly enjoy using it. Everytime I open this great program it feels like it's brand new! I love it. However, the features of T2 and it's plugins are not quite enough to make me upgrade.

I may reconsider if they scrapped all the plugins and included one good one, but I doubt that would happen.

I really enjoyed the T2 feature leak and all this NAMM stuff. It's been a fun few weeks here :)

Congratulations. Do you want a lollipop?

Your choice of course, Montana, but I bought Live 4 back in the autumn and I have to say it sucks compared to Tracktion. Visit the Ableton forum and check out what the users are saying - lots of anger at present.

And regarding upgrades and commercials, Live is just updating to version 4.1, which includes... wait for it... fixes for some bugs hardly anyone even noticed, a DEMO version for a new synth Ableton have produced (which costs a whopping $149 if you want to authorise it, and apparently sounds like a freebie according to those who have bothered to download the update), and.... that's it :-o

Put in that context, I would definitely recommend reconsidering your next move... and I hope that helps!

Can´t deny that, when installing T2, I would like an option to choose which plugins to install. I don´t want more plugins cluttering the registry than absolutely necessary.

Mackie says over 100 improvements have been made. How do you know this hasn't already been implemented?

Not trying to talk you out of it, but how 'bout we wait for the demo and really see for ourselves?

Thank you for the heads up! What do you like, dislike about the program other than this? Maybe I should just find an inexpensive copy of Acid somewhere?

Maybe we do not have all the info yet, but I had really hoped to see some serious improvements on the sampler and the other plugs. On the T2 site it says "built-in sampler" like it said on the T1 site. I agree that a good filter, or reverb would have been much nicer than sampletank se.

Anyway I guess there'll be some for info on the way.

T1 is just fine.
I could live with it for the rest of my life (I'm old)..... however I don't want to , so I will upgrade.

:D

WHY DOES NOBODY GET THIS!?!?!?!?!?! The plug-ins for T2 are NOT all freebies! And they are NOT demo versions! And hey, here's a news flash for you. The plugs that came with T1 were FREEBIES. They were the MDA line of plug-ins. But you bought that anyway, didn't you?

Really people, if you don't like the upgrade, and don't plan on doing so, then don't upgrade. But stop blaming it on things that aren't even true. People around here jump to conclusions too easy, like they are just TRYING not to be happy.

Sheesh!!!

Montana, there is a free version of Acid available for download. Acid Xpress I think it's called. Don't know if it will sort you out, but it may be worth a try.

I too strongly hope installing the included plugins is optional on a per plugin basis (e.g. install RMIV but not Sampletank SE). At least we should be able to delete the dlls.

get a cheap copy of acid for time stretching yr loopz keep T1 as yr main app wait 4 T2 demo

Acid is class if u work with loops or audio im mostly midi & $199 in the box with all the extras is a fooping bargain if the demo is up 2 scratch

Jesus Christ people, do you really think Raw Material and Mackie are going to write an installer for 70 odd plugins by various manufacturers that deliberately installs all of them without allowing you to choose which ones?

When the original manufacturers have already written their own installers?

Which will be on the disk in their usual form?

What software company in the world takes the time and effort to do something that stupid?

Are you f**king serious????
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

Post

Yes I am f**king serious as you so eloquently put it. I've installed software before which installed some additional stuff I never wanted. And I can't remember wheither I had a choice of installing the MDA plugs or not in T1.

But you are probably right. It wouldn't make any sense if they didn't give us a choice.

Of course, it would be "nice" to choose what to install or not ...
But, come ooooooon, is that REALLY important ? Will this kind of feature decide if you're going to upgrade or not ?
I see a lot of complaining about tiny details in here.
That amazes me, frankly.
After looooooots and looooooots of "we want to know, give uuuuuuus news" *wine wine* about T2, now it's nitpiking (don't know how to spell it, stupid french guy I am) about details
Come on, that's just FREE/bonus plugs to go with the successor of your favorite sequencer !
Cheer up !
:)

the mda plugs don't come with installers, they're just dlls so it's not a hassle to remove them.
