dunno... 80 bux? yeah, same as we paid for T1, and a sensible rebate for those who supported T all this time.

I'm looking very forward to Ron's thread when the upgrade price is officially announced, claiming great injustice when the price turns out to be more than $80.

If YOU read your threads, you'd notice that I didn't say a word about you having sex. And if I had, it would have been extremely hypocritical of me to say anything.
And while you certainly may pay anything, that doesn't mean you won't complain about it.

It's really hard to say.
People have been bringing up the fact that Mackie listed the msrp of T1 as $149, but as we know it always sold for $80 and no one ever paid $149. Thats about a 45% discount.
So, that would make T2 about $110.
But then that 149 list price for T1 was probably just to soften us up for the price increase and T2 will sell for 199.
If stores discount it to $110 and Mackie sells it for $199 on it's website, how will T1 owners get their lower upgrade price? Will we have to show proof of purchase at a store to get a lower price? Will we pay the store price and then get a rebate check from Mackie? Or will we have to buy it from Mackie for $199 and then get an $80 or so discount off of $199.
199 -80=119. Where is the discount then, if a new purchaser can buy it for $110 at a store?
It's hard to say.

If thats the case, I got some hook ups at guitar center that might be able to get me a better deal on a T2 box. I wouldnt even bother with the upgrade if it wasnt a good deal. What really sucks is the waiting! First wait for features to be announced, now wait for beta, then wait for distribution to start, then wait for delivery time, etc. Damn.PT wrote:

How do other companies work upgrades? The only software I have seen retail upgrades for is Windows.
Not to say they're not out there, just that I've never paid for a music software upgrade before.
Ie. Will only the full version be retail and the upgrade must be bought from Mackie directly? I imagine that's how it would (must?) be, but I don't know how other developers do it.

Actually Cubase used to sell upgrades boxed aswell but they were a much more established sequencer with a lot of users. So I imagine T2 will only sell the full version. Since its the first version I dont think there would be enough users needing to upgrade to justify it being sold boxed. But its always pretty clumsy when you can get a better deal buying it new than upgrading.Lunch Money wrote:
