Tracktioneers - recommend your fave spectrum analysis plugin

I'm looking for either a freebie or less than the cost of Tracktion plugin that does spectrum analysis as a plugin.

I use Tracktion for music at home, and for vehicle sound simulation for one of the American carmakers - where I basically take recordings of various sources of vehicle noise, and simulate driving operating conditions by turning these sources on/off, etc.

I'd like to view an FFT spectrum of the signal as it's being tweaked. I'm not concerned about latency.

I actually use some fairly sophisticated audio analysis software from Head Acoustics, but one thing they lack is a 'mixer' type function.

So, does anyone have a recommendation for this? It needs to be a 'live' analysis - so using freebies like Audacity or Goldwave, which both have spectrum analysis on existing files, won't cut it for me.

Thanks,

Scott

I think Elemental Audio's Inspector will do what you need. Check here...

Useful, it is. And free! The download is 5.1MB because it has demo versions of two other EAS plugins, but it's worth the time just for Inspector.

Thanks Woolyloach.

If I had some fish food flakes, I'd send 'em your way.

Also, Voxengo span which is also free.

Another vote for inspector.

Its not so much the RTA I use it for these days, as the level metering: having a peak meter superimposed on an RMS meter is really useful when judging how much compression to use at the mastering stage..

Voxengo span serves me very well too.

Just grabbed the CPlugs, as I've been wanting a good stereo meter.. unfortunately as soon as I inserted a C_SuperStereo in my mix bus I got a memory access violation warning and a total Tracktion lock-up. :?

Use at your own risk people!!

SPAN is cool though, I'd missed that one. :)

It must be system specific.

It works fine on my machine in Tracktion.

weird, but i use samplitude 7.23a. I've been a samp. user since version 2.5... samplitude is going to a dongle setup, so i'm abandoning it for my new love T2 :) AND not to stray from the topic... i realize samp is anything but a free plugin, but thats' what i use, works great!

Yet another vote for Inspector. One aspect I appreciate particularly is its small and efficient GUI, which takes up very little space but gives you lots of info.
