Word!
Elastique is nice indeed! Tracktion equipped with elastique would be nice but since I own FL Studio 5 I only need Tracktion for a good recording setup...

But I am hoping that all of you will get what you want!

I just noticed that Beno wasn't really here today. I know he must be busy at NAMM. I wonder if they are showing off T2 there? Anybody been there yet?

Anyway, Beno, if you do come here, maybe you could help with some of the speculation. Things like whether or not plugs are full verions or not. And if it will be downloadable or not.

Also, is there going to be any more tease? Or will you just let us have the rest at once? And there are many other questions needing answered. I know you're busy, so if you can't, it's ok. But it seems there are alot of questions people have.

Also, can you give away a free Mackie Universal with every new purchase of Tracktion? Then I'll be set.

Elastique time/pitch shifting would be worth every penny of the upgrade price. This is a fantastic algorithm and it's the one used in ** Ableton Live 4.1. **

You can download a free copy of it (yes free) from Z-Plane. It is a demo in as much that it has no record or save but it works brilliantly.

The SDK (software development kit) is for clever people like Jules to use the code in applications like Tracktion.

I wish they'd just put us out of our misery!!!

Actually I dont think the quality in realtime timestretching matters that much aslong as there is an option to render the track with a brilliant, nonrealtime algorithm such as mpex.

thats the way we ant it.

Post

it's not just the quality though - the actual implementation of time-stretching/pitch-shifting in T1 is (imho) is a bit sucky. I find it unintuitive and frustrating. It's the one area of Tracktion I just can't get round and stops me from jumping in with both feet, although I've been a registered user for ages.

Post

i think the time stretching implementation is pretty nicely done, although it'd be handier if you could hold a key while dragging a clip border to timestretch rather than having to mess around with the parameter panel to change 'modes' first.

for me, a great sounding non-realtime timestretch is also more attractive that a lower quality realtime one.

Post

I think the implementation is fine. I think the algo is sucky. I'd rather have good-sounding offline processing. In fact, for almost every effect you can imagine, I'll take good quality over realtime use. I'm not using T for live performance after all.

I rather have it exactly like it is now (non-destructive), but with a better algo.

I'm sure lots of you will laugh when you read this. Is "time stretch" the same as when Acid makes a loop match your project tempo? Where can I learn more about Tracktions time stretch?

Yes, in the sense that a car made by Lada is the same as one made by Porsche. They will both get you there, but one of them will impress more people.

Bets way is to try it out I reckon. Select an audio clip, choose a type of stretch from the "stretch" box bottom left of the properties panel, and then <ALT> drag the ends of the clip to re-size it..
