I've just installed the software and have been unable to get the wood block click track to change to- say- a cymbal.. The click track settings say cymbal but the sound is a wood block? Any ideas? I am a newbie ;)

Thanks..

Fooked if I know. Hadn't tried it myself before! :D I suspect it's trying to send a MIDI message to a device that isn't actually there. Ie. it's playing a default "inside of Tracktion" sound rather than a sound on a MIDI device. Didja try changing to a file instead of just in the MIDI note selection area?

Might work...

Strangely, I don't have any short samples to give it a try with (on-hand).

There we go...

Changed the output device to "MS Wavetable Synth" and I could change the sounds with the MIDI area.

On a related note-- I bet you'd have a lot more fun with some drum loops instead of a click track. ;)

Click Track -> Change Click Settings

You can now load up your own samples..

I'm a guitarist, too. :D Welcome to Tracktion, it's great for guitarists!

I started off with drum loops from various music magazines, but quickly decided to pay a very reasonable price for a CD full of loops from Beta Monkey, which have been extremely useful.

Loops are aplenty, and your other option is to do something like getting the free Natural Studio drum kit and using MIDI to program your own drum track. I'm sure with a wee bit of work you'd at least come up with something more interesting than the click track. :D

Thanks for the info on Drum loops.. Have to download the NS from a broadband point later..

BTW,
I'm writing tunes on guitar and want to have the tick track recorded on track 1. Later on when I have a song done I would like to save all the guitar tracks on one track and the click track on another track as a wav/mp3 file (guitar tracks on say- left and tick track on right)- this wav/mp3 file will then go to the vocalists (same house as myself :)- then the drummer, bass players house's for their contributions.
