Hi all,

after much thinking and reading your users comments,
we decided, at least so far, to go like this for EVE:

free upgrade EVE 1.8, new from 1.4h:

-rewitten voice EQ, a lot better than the previous EQ
-totally new Phaser, really deep vintage sound
-new filter module for auto wah and sweep effect
with LFO

paid upgrade EVE 2.0, new from 1.8:

- storage system for SoundSet, size on drive reduced to 50%!
- a lot faster preset switching
- other new effect modules, more filters, overdrive etc..., all vintage models
- improved GUI (no big changes don't worry)
- more SoundSets in the default Library
- other features do be defined

so what you think?

Have you set the upgrade price yet?

i'd rather see it all come in version 2 (paid), rather than spaced out. ie- one serious, comprehensive update. I also think a paid update could have some more default 'EVE 2' soundsets.

Which ever way you go though, I am bound to be happy.

the 1.8 free update looks very nice indeed :) and most generous :D don't think you'll get anything but smiles there !

certainly better preset handling for v2.0 sounds like a nice enhancement also. things otherwise for the paid upgrade seem a bit hazy...

more effects are always nice to able to store beautifully tweaked sounds, but given how many effects people seem to have these days i don;t think that's enough by itself.

something for v2.0 worth paying for (imho) is a comprehensive set of high-quality basic waveforms.

no offence but a lot of the soundset waveforms are really very low-fi and not really up to much.

but a good-quality basic set would enable some serious preset programming just using the basic soundset.

All Sounds great to me luigi!

Keep it up! 8)

the main reason for the two upgrades is to reward
who actually bought EVE vs who got it free with CM mag (even though it's not the same version!)

more deafult soundsets in EVE 2: yes

or another option would be that EVE 2 is delivered only as "all in one" CD, with all extra sets available, but this would lead to a complex upgrade
path, depending on what each user own.

BTW updated the top post for EVE 2 list, please check it.

by basic waveforms, do you mean the one stored in the
"Waveforms" folder of EVE Data?, or what else?

please specify which are lo-fi to you?

I like the sound of 2.0 now . Keep up the good work.

Looks good.

Yeah sounds cool 8)

I would ask though that the preset access system is improved if possible. Even with the new button it's still clunky to switch banks and patches. What about using the system W-Station uses - it works very well (I think some of the Linplug plugins use a similar system too - just click on the bank name and get a list of banks - click on the patch name and get a list of patches - much more intuitive)

all I need to know is
when will it be ready :D 8)

good to hear that the ppl who bought it are gettin a different version from the cm freebie

really cool to have more of the basic waveforms included

is there a mellotron soundset in the works? how far along is that? could it be included in the v2 update maybe?

thanks for the information, now i can totally forget about payin 150 bucks to ableton for floperator :P

yes we are thinking about that, anyway with so many freeware effects, <roll eyes sigh>

mellotron set is almost ready and could be out
soon as extra volume like HQS1 and 2

yes maybe included with EVE 2, we have to see the upgrade price for EVE 2

thanks,

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I sorta agree with that other user who says that one womping big update to version 2 is almost preferable.

However, Eve has been languid for so long that a little kick in the pants to get users excited about it again before hitting them up for an update might be a good gesture. Re-invigorate the user base as it were. And if it is a question of having to wait longer when an 1.8 update is possible in the next month or so, hell, yeah.

But I look forward to Eve becoming the plug it's capable of being.
Now Somewhat Retired
