Well, I use that method because it makes it easier to add fills or change rhythm patterns during the song. so, I guess the short answer would be flexibility...

One thing that I have discovered that works is to write a midi file consisting of quarter notes playing an ascending chromatic scale starting at c-3 and going all the way up to c7. Play this file through whatever drum vsti you have and you will find all the different sounds and their matching note values.flanneljammies wrote:I followed these instructions and it worked like a charm. My question is where are these key mappings documented? Do you just have to stumble upon them? After I got drumatic working with my Stepchild sequence, I swapped in Ersdrums for Drumatic and only the kick drum made sound. Is this a trial and error thing?

I bump this topic because I don't understand this configuration. On my Drumatic v.3 I have only (in order) Kick, Snare, Tom1, Tom2, Rim/Bell, HiHats, Clap.edelweiss wrote:
The key/note mapping for "Drumatic v.3 is as follows...
Kick Drum - C3
Rim Shot - C#3
Snare - D3
Clap - D#3
Lo Tom - F3
Hi Tom - B3
Pedal Hi Hat - F#3

What's Lo/Hi Tom? Rim Shot? Pedal/Closed/Open HiHat? I don't have those specific :O
