im chekcing in to kvr so often i essentially live here now.

for me the bennifits/attractions are:

environment:
in general, the people here friendly, open and talkative and the quality of discussion, intellegence, personality, and level of respect in the posts here far exceeds what i've seen in many other forums and email lists.

content:
this place is extremely informative. the people here are knowledgable on a tremendously wide range of music related (and non-related) topics...and are happy to share what they know.

gear:
this is an audio software junkie's heaven - you want it? we got it. you want more? its coming out every day. if it wasnt for this place, i might not have known about most of the synths i use every day now, including synthedit.

plus, as many other's have mentioned...here we've got users and devs in the same place! and not just one dev...lots of them. users talk with the devs, devs talk with each other, everyone gets to discuss the products. as a result, the overall quality of our software improves at a much faster pace. (certainly way faster than the hardware world ever has.)

also, because of this, i suspect that kvr is having a positive impact on warez use. not just because this community doesnt tollerate it, but because the people that make and sell the software arent faceless companies here, you get to to know the devs. so i suspect that once 'fence sitting' warez users hang out here long enough, they get to see what good guys (and struggling small businessmen) the people who make the software really are...and imho, people are more likely to support (or at least not steal from) people that want to be friendly with.

but in any case, whatever the reasons, i dig it here. 8)

long live kvr!
can i get a *huzzah!?

kevvvvv, thanks for your long post -- it was great to read a historical overview

I really couldn't add anything to the fine reasons people have already written

With enormous apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning........

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My monitor can display, whenever within sight
For the lack of flames and idle rants.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Compulsive need, plain text and lack of Flash.
I love thy freebies, while I strive for cash;
I love thy knowledge, as thou serve my daily wants.
I love thee with a passion close to hurt
With my old PC, and too slow dialup speed.
I love thee from thy Donkey to thy Vurt
With thy cryptic sigs, thy "addled muppet weed",
I fear no cheese, and, I wouldst bet my shirt,
I will love thee better at broadband speed.

Regards,

Derek.
