clip property- quantise, but keep notelength intact?

Hi, maybe this was addressed before, but I couldn't find it in a search so I'll take the liberty of asking.
I understand that when you double click a midi clip, it enlarges, and I can select notes and apply "quantise, but keep notelength intact". Now, in the clip options I can also choose to apply quantise, but the quantise here seems to quantise even the notelength. I am wondering if there is any way I can change this, so that it keeps the notelength intact.
The strange thing is that if I select individual notes to apply quantize, I can choose to leave notelength intact, but then I loose the option of choosing how much (in percentage) quantise I get. But if I use the clip options, I can choose how much quantise I get, but loose the ability to keep the notelength intact. So, there's a crossfire situation.
Better yet, is there an option to globally turn on "keep notelength intact"? I guess quantising notelength is useful for electro, but it would be quite useless for example, a normal piano phrase.
Any suggestions welcome! Thanx in advance!
