I liked it alot. I liked the slow tempo. Chillin out type music.

After the vocals faded at the end around 3:50 I think you should have continued the instrumental background for a while. I was riding that music and could have just ridden it further. I liked that piano and whatever that pad background sound was.

very cool Ron! Reminds me a bit of very early Floyd.

Very nice work, Ron. Like I've told you before, parts of it remind me of the Rheostatics, which is meant as a compliment. I can see the Pink Floyd comparison, too, but I think this is a bit more 'accessible' than early Floyd.

Only a wee bit muddy in the frequency department. Certainly as good or better than I'd be capable of, but still not quite up to commercial standards in terms of letting the song 'breathe'.

Great work! Looking forward to more.

screw commercial etc ;)

I like the muddiness of it. Besides I have no idea how I would make it not muddy

Put instruments into rigidly-enforced frequency bands. ;)

Holy shit - this is fantastic, Ron!!! :D

it sent a shiver down my spine...

I see the Pink Floyd reminiscence as well 8)

The vocals are great, likewise the production and the arrangement!!! Definetely a keeper...

I've had my own digs at Ron from time to time, but I have to say that every Consolidation Project track I've heard has been ace. There was one that I liked even better than this one... hmm... what was the name again... crap, don't remember the name AND I can't find a link on your website, Ron.

Grr! Should've saved that one to a keeper folder....

Muddiness is a bit of a subjective term: I suspect the "muddiness" you like is down to the mix being quite warm (especially the snare), while Greg means muddiness in the sense that its not always easy to pick out all the elements of the backing (especially the guitar)

I think your mix is pretty close though; the vocals and piano sound great, and I like the guitar when its exposed.

My advice would be to re-balance the drums by raising the snare a little and dropping the ride cymbal which leaps out a bit atm. Possibly the kick and snare could be a little brighter.. but the main thing I would work on is panning, especially of the guitar which I think could find a space over on the right somewhere, and maybe the piano could move more firmly to the left? This should clear some room for the centre, and help create a sense of space round each instrument..

that is by far the best critique ive ever heard. I mean compare it to say my bloody valentine, now THATS muddy.

:)

So I don't know I might just say it's keeper, just because I can.

I really like this track ...

There's a strange hoover dron noise in the middle, I think it's some kind of echo/ reverb.. but I'm not sure what it is?.. err what is it?... IMHO... I think I'd mix that noise a bit quiter... it works and adds atmosphere.. but it sometimes draws attention to itself to much, it is adding to the muddiness in the track (in both meanings of the word)...

But overall this is a great track.. top stuff..:D
