Why does KVR get so much more traffic?

Anything about MUSIC but doesn't fit into the forums above.

No, I think KvR does well for other reasons.

- one can get the lowdown here from the devs themselves
- there are lots of interesting people here, all kinds of them, forum topics will take you anywhere (e.g. recent threads on serialism and on Thomas Pynchon)
- KvR has great spirit: people are helpful, and like stupid jokes too. KvR is both entertaining and very informative.
- KvR has a kind of grassroots approach feel: many KvR people are on a low budget, and many here have strong feelings about supporting small devs
- warez users don't get to spoil the mood
- thanks to the freeware devs KvR has LOTS to offer, esp. to the beginners
- user reviews are a godsend
- the KvR database is a godsend

etc. etc.

KvR is VERY likable

I presume that a lot of the same people on this forum are on others as well but the traffic on the others seems so much more fragmented.. As a practical example I notice that Kriminal had posted the Karnage announcement on KVR, The CM forum and patcharena (perhaps others but these were the ones I noticed). I also posted a heads up on the FLStudio forum..

The number of views and/or replies on the other forums was next to nothing.. On KVR, 4700+ views and 109 replies, and this is before its even released.

It's all the pretty adds up at the top. Anyone ever refresh the browser just to see the pretty add that you think you missed?? :hihi:

The extensive Software review & official/unoficcial support forums drag my ars back here.

On the same ground i have shared with the help of spaceman a big amount (more than 100mega ) of self-made samples and the bandwith has been quickly exceeded when i (after other forums, finally...) posted a link at kvr !

To fulfill even the most intense commercial yearnings, KVR has an "all the banner ads at once" page.

Used it once when I clicked past an ad only to realize I'd actually wanted to see what it was about -- but I've forgotten the URL and can't locate it via a site search. A veritable temple of musical consumer goods it is, well worth a visit.

I don't know where I'd be w/o the 'last 200 posts (excluding OffTopic)' link on my Favs.. I get about the last 24hours worth of updated threads.. It's great! Then I go on holiday for a fortnight, and have mega catch up!

anyway, I like the place - friendly, entertaining, and a definite plus when my head is full of SQL and I need a break...

That list of characters missed out the lovable xoxos! He doesn't seem to rub folk up the wrong way as he used to. Don't know whether he's mellowed, or those who took umbridge have!

Anyway, I like it here.
And how many other forii have get togethers (even tho' I haven't been able to get there... )

Didn't answer the question, did I? Others have said most if not all of what I would've.

To me, KVR feels like -- you'll have to imagine this, because I don't think they exist in the real world -- a virtual meeting-place combining features of a sports bar (without most of the sports), a school of the performing arts, a bunch of concert halls and other performance spaces, one of the world's coolest flea markets, and the deep-space sets from the original "Duck Dodgers in the 23-1/2th Century" cartoon. Oh, and Hyde Park Corner.

See? Places like that don't exist... other than our local McDonalds on Custom Car Drive-In Night.

And KVR.

And I didn't mean it about McDonald's.

And that, along with all those things others mentioned, is why I keep coming back to KVR, and not McDonald's.

Other than that - couldn't agree more!

informative (database) helpful (database and forums) entertaining (forums) friendly (forums)

like in a pub, there's always somebody you know each time you go there.

you can easily feel you're part of a big family.

besides, there are several strong personalities who give that special touch to the whole thing (which you want to be part of). In fact, what would KvR look like without vurt, the Donks, putte and many other regulars? a boring, anonymous place, probably.

i know your a close friend of his or at least know him better than anyoone i know of,so at least let him know hes thought of around the place.
Couldn't agree more. I've got a big Reg Phoenix folder on my hard drive. After I returned from my one year absence from KVR I was a bit disappointed that he was gone.

No point, it's a walkover. Who won the war? Not the hun that's for sure? :hihi:

apart from the human factor, i think the look of KvR is also a factor of its success.
