Anybody for/against the miniMac to replace this ?(instead of another soon-to-be-dated Intel-like stuff in beige casing).
Sounds like it would be a lateral move.

Really... yes, I believe you're quite right. Besides, Emu has no support for Mac yet.
So, ok, I guess I'll have to spare for my battlelake + 4GHz PV

Actually, I use a 1.06Ghz Celeron laptop for recording stuff away from home. It works fine - we had more than 50 tracks of audio in there at one point and it was begging for more.

P4 2.4Ghz 1Gb RAM ASIO.

Don't ask me about other numbers, I really don't have a clue.

Celeron 1.2ghz 512meg
I use Tracktion mainly for multi-track recording. Have gone up to about 20 tracks of audio with a few plugs on each. I've never hit more than about 50% on the CPU but really don't use any heave CPU plugs.

I think I'll just sell off all my VSTi and keep the effects, and use my poor PC for audio (which I did for most of my life before becoming a VSTi addict). :-o  :o

Now to check with everyone about license transfers...

P4/3GHz/1GB RAM - four weeks old now... :D

(but it is an all-purpose machine, mainly for business tasks)

I guess I'm the winner/loser with a PIII 500 with 128 ram laptop running win98se.

i say P4 2Ghz or lower, but it's actually an AMD athlon XP 2000+ (or it might be a 1800+, can't remember)

does the trick for me. i can't remember really having a time where i maxed out CPU.. i think i need to address my HD issues tho because i'm far more likely to get the ol' (!) appear by the CPU when i'm running loads of audio. can be a real bugger that.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
